Hillary Clinton's Resume
Hillary Clinton has been telling America that she is the most qualified
candidate for president based on her 'record,' which she says includes her
eight years in the White House as First Lady - or 'co-president' - and her
seven years in the Senate. Here is a reminder of what that record includes:
- As First Lady, Hillary assumed authority over Health Care Reform, a
process that cost the taxpayers over $13 million. She told both Bill
Bradley and Pat Moynahan, key votes needed to pass her legislation, that she would
'demonize' anyone who opposed it. But it was opposed; she couldn't even get
it to a vote in a Congress controlled by her own party. (And in the next
election, her party lost control of both the House and Senate.)
- Hillary assumed authority over selecting a female Attorney General. Her
first two recommendations (Zoe Baird and Kimba Wood) were forced to
withdraw their names from consideration, and then she chose Janet Reno. Janet Reno
has since been described by Bill himself as 'my worst mistake.'
- Hillary recommended Lani Guanier for head of the Civil Rights Commission.
When Guanier's radical views became known, her name had to be withdrawn.
- Hillary recommended her former law partners, Web Hubbell, Vince Foster,
and William Kennedy for positions in the Justice Department, White House
staff, and the Treasury, respectively. Hubbell was later imprisoned, Foster
committed suicide, and Kennedy was forced to resign.
- Hillary also recommended a close friend of the Clintons, Craig
Livingstone, for the position of director of White House security. When
Livingstone was investigated for the improper access of up to
900 FBI files of Clinton enemies
(Filegate) and the widespread use of drugs by White House staff, both
Hillary and her husband denied knowing him. (FBI agent Dennis Sculimbrene
confirmed in a Senate Judiciary Committee in 1996 both the drug use and
Hillary' involvement in hiring Livingstone. After that, the FBI closed its
White House Liaison Office, after serving seven presidents for over thirty
years.)
- In order to open 'slots' in the White House for her friends the Harry
Thomasons (to whom millions of dollars in travel contracts could be
awarded), Hillary had the entire staff of the White House Travel Office
fired; they were reported to the FBI for 'gross mismanagement' and their
reputations ruined. After a thirty-month investigation, only one, Billy
Dale, was charged with a crime - mixing personal money with White House
funds when he cashed checks. The jury acquitted him in less than two hours.
- Another of Hillary's assumed duties was directing the 'bimbo eruption
squad' and scandal defense:
---- She urged her husband not to settle the Paula Jones lawsuit.
---- She refused to release the Whitewater documents, which led to the
appointment of Ken Starr as Special Prosecutor. After $80 million dollars
of taxpayer money was spent, Starr's investigation led to Monica Lewinsky,
which led to Bill lying about and later admitting his affairs.
---- Then they had to settle with Paula Jones after all.
---- And Bill lost his law license for lying to the grand jury
---- And Bill was impeached by the House.
---- And Hillary almost got herself indicted for perjury and obstruction of
justice (she avoided it mostly because she repeated, 'I do not recall,' 'I
have no recollection,' and 'I don't know' 56 times under oath).
- Hillary wrote 'It Takes a Village,' demonstrating her Socialist
viewpoint.
- Hillary decided to seek election to the Senate in a state she had never
lived in. Her husband pardoned FALN terrorists in order to get Latino
support and the New Square Hassidim to get Jewish support. Hillary also had
Bill pardon her brother's clients, for a small fee, to get financial
support.
- Then Hillary left the White House, but later had to return $200,000 in
White House furniture, china, and artwork she had stolen.
- In the campaign for the Senate, Hillary played the 'woman card' by
portraying her opponent ( Rick Lazio) as a bully picking on her.
- Hillary's husband further protected her by asking the National Archives
to withhold from the public until 2012 many records of their time in the White
House, including much of Hillary's correspondence and her calendars.
(There are ongoing lawsuits to force the release of those records.)
- As the junior Senator from New York, Hillary has passed no major
legislation. she has deferred to the senior Senator (Schumer) to tend to
the needs of New Yorkers, even on the hot issue of medical problems of workers
involved in the cleanup of Ground Zero after 9/11.
- Hillary's one notable vote, supporting the plan to invade Iraq, she has
since disavowed.
Quite a resume, isn't it?

Political Reflections and Affirmations
Suppose that every day, ten men go out for beer and the bill for all ten
comes to $100. If they paid their bill the way we pay our taxes, it would go something
like this: (take it to the end, I guarantee you will learn something valuable).
The first four men (the poorest) would pay nothing.
The fifth would pay $1.
The sixth would pay $3.
The seventh would pay $7.
The eighth would pay $12.
The ninth would pay $18.
The tenth man (the richest) would pay $59.
So , that's what they decided to do.
The ten men drank in the bar every day and seemed quite happy with the
arrangement, until one day, the owner threw them a curve.
Since you are all such good customers, he said, I'm going to reduce the
cost of your daily beer by $20.Drinks for the ten now cost just $80.
The group still wanted to pay their bill the way we pay our taxes so the
first four men were unaffected. They would still drink for free. But what
about the other six men - the paying customers? How could they divide the
$20 windfall so that everyone would get his 'fair share?'
They realized that $20 divided by six is $3.33. But if they subtracted
that from everybody's share, then the fifth man and the sixth man would each
end up being paid to drink his beer.
So, the bar owner suggested that it would be fair to reduce each man's
bill by roughly the same amount, and he proceeded to work out the amounts each
should pay.
And so:
The fifth man, like the first four, now paid nothing (100% savings).
The sixth now paid $2 instead of $3 (33%savings).
The seventh now pay $5 instead of $7 (28%savings).
The eighth now paid $9 instead of $12 (25% savings).
The ninth now paid $14 instead of $18 (22% savings).
The tenth now paid $49 instead of $59 (16% savings).
Each of the six was better off than before. And the first four continued
to drink for free. But once outside the restaurant, the men began to compare
their savings.
I only got a dollar out of the $20,declared the sixth man. He pointed to
the tenth man, but he got $10!
Yeah, that's right, exclaimed the fifth man. I only saved a dollar,
too. It's unfair that he got TEN times more than I!
That's true!! shouted the seventh man. Why should he get $10 back
when I got only two? The wealthy get all the breaks!
Wait a minute, yelled the first four men in unison. We didn't get
anything at all. The system exploits the poor!
The nine men surrounded the tenth and beat him up.
The next night the tenth man didn't show up for drinks, so the nine
sat down and had beers without him. But when it came time to pay the
bill, they discovered something important. They didn't have enough money
between all of them for even half of the bill!
And that, boys and girls, journalists and college professors, is how our
tax system works. The people who pay the highest taxes get the most benefit
from a tax reduction. Tax them too much, attack them for being wealthy, and
they just may not show up anymore. In fact, they might start drinking overseas
where the atmosphere is somewhat friendlier.
For those who understand, no explanation is needed. For democrats no
explanation is possible.

About me:
I liken this page to Chicken Soup for the Soul, except it is gauranteed to rub some folks the wrong way. Given THAT aspect of it, I've named the page "Sand Paper for the Soul" knowing how it will "rub" some readers. At heart I am a political junkie and a comedy lover. I use this page to take a critical and sometimes humorous look at politics. This page is a work in progress....
As for me, I tend to be "right leaning". You can interpret that as leaning towards being correct which would be suitably ambiguous, or you can interpret it as just to the right of the political center. You can make your own call.
Enjoy the page or not, it's totally up to you. What a country!

Global Warming v. Evolution?
Seems to me that if Evolution is settled science and true beyond doubt, then we're in no danger from generational Global Warming. Wouldn't we and all other species evolve to adapt to the new climate? I sense a conflict here between competing "settled" sciences....

Ever wonder what Al Gore's position was in 1992 on Iraq, Saddam Hussein, and Iraqi ties to terrorism? I've got the 1992 CSPAN video of then-candidate Gore discussing Iraq, ties to terror, and WMD. It's linked here directly below my News Flash announcements. It's a 9-minute viewing, but it's well worth the watch! NOTE: you'll need to pause my profile song to hear the video.
