The first grains of SandS were formed in 2001 when Russ & Neil decided to leave the smouldering remains of a popular covers band and concentrate on some original material that they had been brooding on for some time.
They first recruited the talent of bass guitarist Jason May and then close friend and supporter Dave Craig joined them bringing along his drum kit and his own individually creative style. Russ and Neil always believed they needed keyboards in the sound and they were delighted to be joined soon after by Luke Sidell bringing both his signature style and experience in live performance to the sound of SandS.
Together they moulded and shaped some original themes, recording and capturing them on their superb debut album they called 'Believe It'. This was supported by some excellent live shows in and around the Oldham, Rochdale and Saddleworth area.
Unfortunately (as all good things..........) Dave & Jason had to leave due to work commitments, and the next 6 months were spent searching for a replacement drummer and bassist. After several unsuccessful auditions and trials, a change of events in Dave's work arrangements found him able to re-commit himself and furthermore recommended an old mate called Paul Walsh to join the band playing bass. SandS were back up and running! This set up enjoyed playing the live scene for about 18 months until the summer of 2006 when regrettably Paul annouced that he had to leave.
It took only 3 weeks to find his successor Rich Eaton and in welcoming Richard, the band plan to start gigging again in early 2007, with a new album of songs available a little later in the year.
Their live set will comprise of some newly groomed songs that are waiting to be heard and heard again. Alongside these the band will perform some of the best songs from their "Believe It" album and of course please the audience with those favourite Pink Floyd, Deep Purple and Radiohead numbers, to name a few, that they cover so well.
Watch out for some dates during the spring of 2007 in Brighouse and then Saddleworth in the summer.......
