Hi! We are BOB AND DARLENE (And Miles too-he makes custom aquariums!) Located in Chico, Northern California we raise a variety of pet birds and bantam cochin (Pekin) Chickens.
Through the years we have kept and raised many species of parrots, exotic gamebirds, rare pigeon breeds, tinamous, finches, canarys, ect. We have rescued and re-habbed a vast array of wild birds and several wild critters. We were one of the the first in Northern California to successfully breed Red-Fronted Macaws and at one time we were very into color mutation breeding of Red-Rumped Parakeets and Indian Ringnecked Parakeets.
We do not advocate hybridization of macaws or any species. A color mutation (any color other than the "wild form") and a hybrid (crossing two species) are two different things.
we occasionally have handfed babys for people seeking a pet. The birds we offer are small conures (Green-Cheeks, Roseifrons, and Black-Caps), Macaws, Indian Ringnecked Parakeets, Alexandrines, Diamond Doves, Cockatiels, Budgerigars and Zebra Finches.

Spring is here and so are the butterflies! This week I have a gallery of a particular group of butterflies called Brushfoots. Brushfoots are the most commonly known and encountered of the large colorful butterflies (excluding the swallowtails) found in Florida and the Americas. These include the monarchs, fritillaries, buckeyes, and the viceroy below (who has nearly identical markings as the toxic monarch butterfly) to keep it from being eaten by birds.... cool trick, huh? :-)
Click the butterfly below to see my gallery - and please let me know what you think!
