For unknown talent MySpace can be a good way to start a musical career. Also for Sandy Dane. By putting her own songs on her MySpace she got in contact with composer, producer en A&R manager Tony Cornelissen, who is responsible for the hitsingles of artists like Di-rect and Do. He was confinced of her talent right away and brought her in contact with Sony Bmg.
Right now Sandy’s debutsingle ‘Peace, Love & Ice Cream’ is a fact, and she's performing during the Peace in the Park festivals in Rotterdam and Amsterdam, “a picknic, where you can enjoy musical sessions while hanging around in the park. It's very laid back, relaxing,” says the 22 year old brunette from Almere.
‘Peace, Love & Ice Cream’ is a dreamy, semi-acoustic popsong with a beautiful melody and melancholy lyrics about the sixties, when people fought for freedom and peace. This is the music that Sandy wants to make, although she doesn't want to get stuck on tht one sound.
“I already know what my debutalbum should sound like. If it's up to me there will be different styles on the cd, but it will still be singer/songwriter. I don't want people to get bored listening. It needs something extra!”
As a young girls, Sandy was already caught by the singingvirus, and she sang in all the schoolmusicals. After two years of her study and after two years of working in Mallorca and Florida,she auditioned for a lot of musical things. She was asked to sing the vocals for a few dancetracks, which is a whole different genre. “Dance is an easy way to start and gain experience, because dj's are always looking for vocals.”
It was only a year and a half ago that Sandy decided to completely focus on her songwriting. She did this Together with Rene van Mierlo, who plays the guitar for people like Edsilia Rombley and Stef Bos. She didn't expect to get signed by a mayor within a year . “I never realized that my dream would come true, so soon.”
