Originally from Glasgow , Sandy now lives in the Kingdom of Fife. He has been a stalwart of the Scottish music scene for more than thirty years.
As a guitarist he has worked with several key musicians (Brian McNeill, Midge Ure, Dougie Pincock and others) and features on numerous ground-breaking albums. He was a founder member of the influential Glasgow groups Molendinar and Kentigern. Sandy has released two solo albums, "Crossing the Line" and "The De'il...& other Cronies", along with accompanying music/tablature books. He now devotes his time to composing, arranging and record production as well as performing, both solo and with a diverse range of artists. He is a member of the teaching staff at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama.
Recent work includes producing albums by Dawn Diamond and Rachel Dawick and compositions such as "Aeolus", a setting to music of Donald MacIntyre's epic Gaelic poem read by renowned writer and broadcaster Bill Innes, an extract of which can be heard above, and "Shanter!", a "dialogue" between Tam O' Shanter and his wife Kate on his return from an eventful night out! In addition Sandy has produced the new Sylvia Barnes album "The "Colour of Amber", released by Greentrax Records in September 2007. A track from this album, "The End o't", with music by Sandy and words by Violet Jacob, is featured above.
