I myself have never been able to find out precisely what 'Feminism' is... I only know that people call me a 'Feminist' whenever I express sentiments that differentiate me from a door mat or a prostitute. ~Rebecca West, "Mr Chesterton in Hysterics: A Study in Prejudice," The Clarion, 14 Nov 1913, reprinted in The Young Rebecca, 1982"
Security is mostly superstition. Life is either a daring adventure, or nothing. To keep our faces toward change and behave like free spirits in the presence of fate is strength undefeatable.’— Helen Keller
Thanks to: Patriots, ACT! for showing me this and Thanks to its creator(s).-L.
I love movies in which there's at least one female who kicks butt: like Tank Girl, Kill Bill!. Well-done Supernatural or Vampire-Themed ones like The Lost Boys, Stigmata.
I Adore well-choreographed Action Films... Think: District B-13 (It's French, dubbed in English and Amazing as far as stunts go.)... If you don't think people can fly... Check out this film. "Hello. My Name is ________... and I'm Also Addicted to (*Original and Imaginative) SciFi. Recent Addiction: Dr. Horrible's Sing-A-Long Blog (Another Remarkable Joss Whedon creation! - If the name doesn't ring a bell... Think "Buffy", "Angel", "Firefly".
I find any movies in which the roles played by women are written so as to be very pretty and very stupid; only plain or unattractive ones are smart; utilized only as victims of graphic violence; and/or exploited only as sex objects Utterly Repulsive and Contemptable.
Television
Je t'aime Life on Mars (the Original series from the BBC - not ABC) - if you haven't seen it, you're missing out on some brilliant writing and sublime performances (Philip Glenister!)... LOM's creators' new series Ashes To Ashes (also BBC, Philip returns!) - if you lived in/loved/are fascinated by the Outrageous Looks and Lyrics of the 1980's... You will LOVE it... Torchwood and Doctor Who! I Love: Supernatural, True Blood, Lost, Ghost Hunters, Moonlight, New Amsterdam... I Loved Alias, Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Angel, Firefly (Anything From Joss Whedon!), Farscape, BSG (Starbuck as a Grrl!), Stargate SG-1, Atlantis...
Can't stand so-called 'reality' shows (Their whole concept is staged- none of those people, in "REALITY" would, likely ever meet- let alone do anything they do in the shows.), they so suck! And...I wouldn't want to sit in on my friends' dates...So why would you think that I'd care to watch total strangers go on a date? Ugh.
Women Who Kick Ass... from Farscape.
