Kenny Gilmore is one of the contemporary Malawian musicians spearheading a revolution in Malawian music where elements of of folk, pop, reggae, Jazz and blues are used but all firmly rooted in the unique rhythms and special musical styles of Malawi. Kenny likes to call this music 'Malawi -beat', and has been popularising the genre in the clubs of London, Cape Town and Paris as well as at home.
As far as we know the only serious African harmonica player in the world, Kenny combines a passionate song-writing talent with a highly energetic brand of showmanship to bring his own particular flavour to the international stage. Kenny has played alongside African legends such as Habib Koite, Ismael Lo and Oliver Mtukudzi, and his first album 'Ngati Mafunde' released under the OG Issa label in Malawi scored two number one hits in Malawi which secured his mantle as the first popular white african artists in Malawi. Kenny is currently based in London, although he frequently returns to the African continent to perform and record in Malawi and in Cape Town South Africa.
