"Sang Matiz" is the combination of two words: Sang which means blood in French and Matiz which means "Harmonious mixture" in Spanish. The band adopted this name originally because of the diverse backgrounds of its members. Yuriza; the very talented and natural born composer and singer of the band, was born in Peru but is of German descend. Eddie in the lead guitar was also born in Peru, but spent half his life in California. John Major on drums is from California but largely influenced by South American sounds and Cata our back up vocalist and percussionist was born in Chile. Mark Escalera and Tony Mellville are no longer members of the band but can be heard on the studio tracks above. The diverse musical experiences we all have gathered through our lives shape our sound. Many South American, Caribbean and European rhythms have been fused with flamenco, reggae and jazz to bring you this new sound that is making people dance all over the Bay Area.
We love making people enjoy themselves and dance to our music, to bring different bloodlines together and forget about the little things that separates us. We are different but we are also very much the same. Peace and Love for all. VIVA LA MUSICA!!!!__________
"Sang Matiz" has performed all over the Bay Area. San Francisco, Hayward, Oakland, San Rafael, Tiburon, Santa Rosa, Ukiah, Willits, etc.....
Our music can also be performed as duets or trios while still retaining its essence, energy and passion. Even though most of our performances have been public, we are also available for private events and parties.

Every time I listen to Latin music it reminds me of the many Flamenco dancers in Spain and Mexico City, Mexico. You can always dance and have much fun and many people do not know what they're missing. I enjoy your profile very much.
I like the traditional Flamenco Guitar and music you have...it's nice, smooth, tight. It sounds like you've been together awhile. I think to push towards a unique signature is what I keep my ears tuned for.
I like other Flemenco like Rodrigo y Gabriella, and Ottmar Liebert- they're virtuosos. However, when my favorite band of all time The Church came out with El Momento Desquidado I was surprised!! A shock that these MUSICIANS finally be recognized for something they didn't usually do!!
Thank you for your interest and inquiries. I hope to see you around and I'll let you know when, if I have a showing of Art!
