About me: A journalist and author based in Paris, I enjoy making politicians nervous in countries around the world. I try to educate myself by devouring books in as many languages as I can, and by reporting from the field in places where I may be of some use to the struggle of economically and socially disadvantaged people to lead more just and decent lives. I wrote a book called Notes from the Last Testament: The Struggle for Haiti (Seven Stories Press) which The Miami Herald called "a powerfully documented exposé" and The San Antonio Express-News characterized as "a compelling mix of reportage, memoir and social criticism." Tropical Storm Noel left me stranded for a few more days than I had hoped, so I made the most of it and enjoyed myself. I was in Delmas so I didn't really see any flooding or damage from the storm, fortunately.
Well, my friend, I travel to Haiti this afternoon. Don't have any scheduled visits in Cite Soleil, though. But these past few years many people have wound up making unscheduled visits there, so we shall see.
