San Shou S.A. has come about to provide an environment for Martial Artists of all diciplines to come together to test their skills.
In South Australia, until now there was no full contact fighting outside of the convential circles of boxing, kick-boxing and Muay Thai. San Shou S.A. is going to change that, allowing martial artists of almost any dicipline to compete on equal terms.
Translated, San Shou means 'Unbound Hands'. It is not a Martial Art in of itself, but was developed in China to enable various styles to test their mettle against one another. With the additon of protective equipment to limit injuries, it has now emerged as a popular ring sport not only in its native china, but all around the world.
In a San Shou bout you allowed to punch, kick, takedown and throw your opponent. Once a fighter is brought to the ground they are stood back up straight away, keeping the fight flowing continuously. This makes it one of the most exciting ring sports around.
Traditonally there is no ring, but a raised platform called a 'Lei Tai', giving the potential to win a bout not only through points or knockout, but also by removing your opponent from the fighting platform. However, due to current ring-fighting laws in South Australia, our events will be held in a conventional kick-boxing ring.
San Shou S.A. is being put together by Dragon Breath Promotions and sanctioned by the ISKA (International Sport Kickboxing Association).
Who I'd like to meet: Any and all Martial Artists who are keen to compete, contact Dragon Breath Promotions for more information.
