Any live drums you hear were performed by my father, David Madole. Thanks Dad, I love you and the fact that you helped me realize a few dreams along the way to getting out to the world. Oh yeah, thanks to Mom for the same.
Influences
Alice In Chains, Tool, Metallica, Will Haven, Better Than Ezra, Sevendust, Systematic, Down... actually, just listen to the songs and decide for yourself who we might sound like. Kthx.
Sounds Like
... what would happen if grunge and the post grunge thing that came out of the radio heavy music scene combined forces. I love Alice In Chains and (old) Pearl Jam, but I love Better Than Ezra and Sevendust. How does one make that all fit together? This is part of that answer.
Sans Self is a project of Dan Madole, a rather typical man with a love for music and a sadness and fury about his world and the way it's played out so far. In his short time in life, he's seen friends depress themselves to the point of suicide... he's seen love flare up and be crushed... he's seen more than he ever wanted to see, but that's life for him on a daily basis.
The best method of expression for him is music. Only through music has he found a way to really speak his mind on things. Whether it's the fact that everyone confides in him but shuts him out, the feeling he gets when someone can't comprehend another's feelings, or just the fact that some people can't see that there are things that just are not done... it all comes out in the music one way or another. But really, he's not just expressing himself through the music... he's looking for his true self in the songs. Each one he writes is a piece of his mind. Someday, he will see himself in all of the songs. Until then, though, he writes on.
Dan Madole has chosen to find himself in his music. Maybe you will too, and maybe someday no one will be Sans Self.
