Formed in early 2005, Sansutra have contributed a level of sophistication to Canberras live music scene. The six piece line up including violin, keys, trombone, guitar, bass and drums creates a sumptuous musical backdrop for singer Himalis ethereal voice.
The richness of the Sansutra sound melds amyriad of styles including elements of funk, progressive folk and, as one critic described, soulful pop akin to Fiona Apple. The multi-layered profundities of Sansutra's music, combined with the lilting tone of Himali's haunting lyric presents a diverse and entirely satisfying sound.
The Marji Curran Trio and slide guitarist Adam Hole will be playing at The Venue this Saturday night 18th August o7 from 7pm in The cocktail lounge. We will have special guest DJ Gosper playing some tasty harp, so come along and enjoy some original roots and blues.
