1999年京都にて結成。サンタラとはヒンドゥ語で「オレンジ/柑橘類」を意味する。
2004年1月15日シングル『バニラ』でメジャーデビュー。
全国のFMで大量にオンエアされ話題となる。
これ以降、アコースティックをベースにしながら様々なサウンドにアプローチし、
これまでに2枚のフルアルバム、3枚のミニアルバム、5枚のシングルをリリースしている。
全国ツアーやFUJI ROCK FES.などのイベント出演も積極的に行い多くのリスナーを獲得。
2009年6月24日NEWアルバム「It's So Easy」リリース、過去最大規模全国ツアーに出る。

One day in the year of 1997, Kyoko (vocalist) and Sunada (guitarist) met and formed a band.
In June of 1999, SANTARA became the name that they would call themselves.

Santara means “citrus fruits” in the Hindu language.

Various musics, like Blues, Folk, Jug, Country, etc., influence them.
Their sound has been described as “evolving folk blues.”

They are also noted for excellent songwriting, performances, and atmosphere.
On summer of 2009 , they will release NEW ALBUM, and will live all over Japan.
