God has blessed me with an awesome life support team and so many of the best musicians on this God given earth including JL Seville my music director who is truly the doctor, The professor of doo-wop-ology.
Santos at The Rock San Diego
Influences
Herbie Hancock, Airto, Miles Davis, Weather Report, Dion, and all The greats of Jazz, R&B and Doo-Wop who gave us thier best down through the years. ....not to mention The Fania All Stars and all the great NYC salseros..including my 2 favorite legendary NYC DJ's Symphony Sid, and Murray The "K"they made it all happen back then - summer nights on the streets, hallways and subway stations searchin for that sweet echo. Hittin the congas, Bongos and cowbell in the park..check out my pics and video section to see what I'm tawkin bout!
Sounds Like
Sounds like the streetcorner symphonies in the Bronx on a Sat night back in 1963 when we would be on the stoops, on the corner under the street light singing "In the still of the night"and "The book of love"
Two words can sum up Santos; gratitude and joy. He is grateful to the Lord Jesus because he knows what many years of drug addiction can do to the human spirit and how much he has been forgiven. Now he's filled with the joy that only comes from presence of God dwelling in the heart of man. Santos spent many years in the music industry performing and touring with such notables as Charles "The Mighty Burner" Earland, man they hit the road hard back in those days on the chitlin circuit but cooked up some awesome groovin back of the chicken shack jazz....Santos played with some other great bands like Weather Report, The Charlie Daniels Band, The Outlaws, Sonny Sharrock, Emmett "The Stick" Chapman, Lil Willy "G", Dion, POD, Switchfoot and so many others over his 35 year career. As a studio percussionist, he has recorded on dozens of albums and TV shows, movie scores. As The Bronx Doo-Wop singer he will have you tappin, snapin and shoo be do be woppin the 5 part harmonies to all of them great oldies.
But most important if you know someone in trouble with any addiction have them call Santos or call the staff at the Calvary Ranch Rehab Facility, on the web it's calvaryranch.org or phone 1-800- 404 -2258 - 24/7... they will get them hooked up with the right help also on the Santos web site there are many resources go to www.santosministries.org click on the help with addictions link.
remember "don't give up and don't give in" hey if Santos can make it so can you, his biggest problem today is trying not to snort that dozen doughnuts...or slamming down a whole Bronx Pizza. Forgettaboutit! Hey kick back and watch the movie below with lots of groovy shots especially of me in the 70's wow I may be old but I'm not cold thanks to my Lord Jesus!
..
The group would not have made it to their 50th Anniversary without the support of 'friends and fans'.
They were just OFFICIALLY inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and got to be the OPENING segment for the entire show on Fuse TV.
The induction was absolutely something great - but the group is definitely still looking to the future.
They are still celebrating their 50th Anniversary - and are also doing shows in support of their new CD 'You'll Never Know'. As Clarence pointed out in his acceptance speech - they've yet to receive a Grammy! Maybe that could be next :-)
There are also plans for more TV appearances, shows focusing on the groups 'current' sound as well as shows in the UK and Europe.
So thanx again for the support and hope to see you at a show!
Bro Santos, you are an inspiration to me and I pray that the Lord will use us in a mighty way as we lift Him up and through the Word and the beauty of Praise we see the captives get set free. In His Love,
