this is the bio from our original website, which doesn't exist anymore:
sarah and carly met after one of carly's pathetic intramural basketball games in the fall of 2000. they met at perkins. you know, the restaurant. anyway. they were sort of chummy after that, but they didn't see each other very much. fast-forward to about a year later. sarah and carly started hanging out a lot, and realized, "hey, maybe we could make music together." the university of central florida's glbsu (gay, lesbian, bisexual student union) was putting on a rally-type-event for national coming out day (october 11th), and they asked our girls to play. so sarah and carly made a list of covers to perform, for there was no time to write originals. they practiced. they were nervous. but they were EXCITED! they played and were well-received. the townspeople rejoiced.
so time passed and sarah and carly tried writing originals. it took a while, but eventually they got the hang of it. they started playing at an open mic in orlando. they played at the ucf pride rally and the central florida pride parade. hmm, with all of these queer events, you'd think they were gay or something! oh, wait ... nevermind. anyway. they continued to be well-received. says carly, "i can't believe people like us. i've never been involved in a band that people liked." they have made connections. they have lofty aspirations. perhaps too lofty, but don't tell them that. they made a demo in one night, using a minidisc recorder (which is tragically a one-track recording device). it's not very good, but for what they had to work with, it's fairly decent. the cover is cool, at least. they gave it to melissa ferrick. no one is sure as to whether or not this was wise. we never heard back, because it was crap.
and now, a more current update on the band!
after playing and then not playing, and then playing a little more, the girls called it quits. they were both busy, very busy. then they graduated and had real jobs. there were one or two shows here and there but they weren't very good (said carly, "we didn't really practice, that might've had something to do with it."). then as 2006 drew to a close, the girls decided to reunite for one final show, to really Go Out With A Bang, as they put it. they had great plans, and pants to match.
then reality set in. carly is currently living in new jersey, and sarah will be moving to new york this summer. so, if there ever is a reunion, it's not likely to be in orlando. but, we'll keep you posted. for now, we're on indefinite hiatus. let this myspace serve more as a point of nostalgia, to recall the Golden Age of Sarah and Carly.
yay for carly and getting this page all set up! i miss you and us and our rock 'n roll lifestyle. the status of "indefinite hiatus" breaks my heart a little bit.
so glad you guys are back together :) i still have your amazingly ghetto demo in my cd collection. let me know when the first reunion show is, i'll see if i can get there and videotape. LOVE YOU GIRLS!
