"Sarah Ayers might be singing about her vulnerabilities, but she comes off like a driven, tough-minded survivor determined to craft her own destiny. Rambunctious and rocking but with a songwriter's sense of polish, 3 AM Epiphany marks Ayers as a blues-rocker to watch." -Ken Bays, Managing Editor, Blues Revue
"With her vast musical background and experience, Sarah Ayers could excel at singing just about any style of music! 3 AM Epiphany is a hard-hitting, attention-getting, well-produced title that stands out among the many blues releases we have received. Well worth a listen and then several more!" - Dave Johnson, host of the nationally-syndicated Blues Deluxe radio program
A powerful vocalist of dramatic intensity, Ayers also contributes most of the band’s catchy, smart songs, notably the swampy “Hook Me Up” and the rocking declaration of independence “Red Dress.'
- Tom Hyslop, Blues Revue
Sarah Ayers has known she wanted to sing professionally ever since she drew applause from her high chair at age two by serenading the dining room at New York's Plaza Hotel. She earned her bachelor's degree in opera performance and studio teaching from Susquehanna University. In her senior year she had the honor of being one of the youngest to ever win an award at the Metropolitan Opera Competition. Sarah has sung opera with a wide range of companies from the Reading Orchestra to the Anchorage Opera Company. It was in Anchorage, Alaska that Sarah got her first taste of the blues, singing Janis Joplin, Etta James, and Koko Taylor covers with the 76th Street Blues Band and Paul Byrd and the Escalators. Sarah got her start in the local blues scene when she filled in for six months for lead singer Beverly Conklin of BC & The Blues Crew, one of the Lehigh Valley's most respected and talented blues bands. At the Lehigh Valley Music Awards, Sarah has had he honor of being named Best Female Vocalist for five consecutive years (2003-2007), in addition to over 20 other awards for her band and recording efforts.
** Please note that while Sarah reads her MySpace comments and messages regularly, this space is maintained for the Sarah Ayers Band by Lori Donovan and The Fourth Leaf Company. Thank you! **
