Every step of the way in Sara Haze’s life has led to her current success with the release of her debut album The Ladder (Beachfront Records). Living in a musical family, Sara began singing at the age of four. She soon started singing in church, being influenced vocally by Etta James and Aretha Franklin. Sara then took to playing piano and listening to Sarah McLachlan, Joss Stone and Christina Aguilera. Later, songwriting became the means by which Sara would avoid the pitfalls of teenage life. Her stories and journal entries that have long been her therapy became honest and truthful songs that Sara delivers with a powerful and emotional voice.
As soon as Sara entered the Los Angeles club scene, she stood out. Amidst a cacophony of rock bands on the same bill, Sara would sit center stage with her piano and reach the hearts of everyone in the room with her songs and her voice. Already having built a successful catalog of songs used in film and TV, Sara signed with PEN Music Group, Inc. in May of 2007 for music publishing representation.
Michael Eames of PEN Music Group, Inc. introduced Sara to Heather Holley and Rob Hoffman of Elicit Music (Christina Aguilera, Quincy Jones, Sheryl Crow). Sara recorded three masters with them that would end up on her debut album The Ladder. Sara won the Pump Audio/ASCAP song contest and performed for 1200 of her peers at The ASCAP I Music Expo in April 2007. Sara co wrote new material this past summer with Grammy award-winning writer/producer Glen Ballard and will continue writing with him in 2008. Sara also spent the summer of 2007 gigging in major cities throughout the U.S., including a four day run at the Microsoft World Partner Conference in Denver where she performed to 8000 people per day. All this accomplished before the age of 18.
Sara Haze, 18, delivers a powerful and emotional debut album with The Ladder, available at iTunes, Amazon and CDBaby.com. Sara will perform shows in Los Angeles in 2008 and hit the road with stops in New York, Texas, Canada, Nashville, Dallas and a performance at Canadian Music Week in Toronto.
