Sarah Basel is a freelance percussionist in the Chicago area. She performs in orchestras, musicals and various other concerts throughout Chicago, Chicago Suburbs, Michigan and Indiana. Sarah is the principal percussionist with the Oak Park River Forest Symhony and is regularly called to play with the South Bend Symphony, Southwest Michigan Symphony and the Rockford Symphony. Sarah has performed in a variety of musicals most recently "Mack and Mabel" with Circle Theatre and "Into the Woods" with the Artists of Concordia Theatre. She has also been an orchestral pit percussionists with "Jesus Christ Superstar", "King and I", "My Fair Lady", "The Mystery of Edwin Drood", "Applause!", "Secret Garden" and "Charlie Brown."
Sarah has performed as a marimba soloist with the Oak Park River Forest Symphony, various High School orchestras and in a number of church services. She has also performed as the timpanist in the Mid-West Festival Orchestra which performed at Carnegie Hall in January of 2000. Over the years, Sarah has performed various percussion instrumets in 42 States, Canada, Mexico, Guatemala and Japan.
Sarah also is an active music educator, focusing on percussion and Orff-Schulwerk methods. She currently teaches general music to Kindergarten through 5th grade students at Berkeley School District 87 in Cook County, Illinois.
