Known by many as the Season 6 American Idol auditioner whose father didn't know she had snuck out to New York, Sarah Burgess was one of 173 out of 120,000 awarded Idol's Golden Ticket to Hollywood. In the months that followed, Burgess was interviewed on almost 100 radio and TV stations to relate her resonant story.
Born and raised in Eastern Ohio, Sarah currently lives in Western Pennsylvania, close to her family. With a strong, smoky voice reminiscent of Alicia Bridges and Fergie, Burgess both caresses and belts out pop, powerpop, jazz, and ballads with equal vigor.
Within days of her contract signing with PME Records, Burgess was opening for Daughtry and Day of Fire at the Colorado State Fair. "We couldn't have been happier with the job she did" explains PME President Craig Patterson, "She tore that place apart."
Her first single, "Didn't Matter That," rose to number 18 on the IdolWaves chart, and was written by Mikal Blue and Colbie Caillat.
Sarah's solo album, "One," is set to be released in March 2008. Some heavy-hitting session players are recording for the album, including Greg Mathieson (Christina Aguilera, Barbra Streisand), Doug Jackson (Ambrosia, Kenny Loggins), and the world-renowned Philharmonika Bulgaria, recorded in Sofia, Bulgaria. The album also includes covers of songs from Gerry Rafferty and Rosette.
The second single is "Dangerouz," and will be released just before the full album. Also being released is Sarah's first video, in support of "Dangerouz."
With a heavy media presence that's already included features in TV Guide, TV Guide Online, M Magazine, J-14 Magazine, ABC and CBS Soaps In Depth, and a host of others scheduled, Sarah's coming up quickly.
