If you had told Sarah Cole a year ago that by the end of 2009 she would have completed a demo project,
a full album, and toured Western Canada a few times, she probably wouldn’t have believed you. But Sarah
didn’t know how recording a few songs in her home might change things. This October, Sarah is proud
to release her debut record.
Produced by Tim Smith and Matt Grier, and recorded in three different cities – Edmonton, Okotoks, and
Kelowna – Sarah’s debut album, “Waiting for Next Year” is a dynamic album of storytelling that
encourages the listener to aspire to personal growth and positive change in their life. Each song that Sarah
writes tells a story – whether it be serious or just for fun. Topics range from her grandfather’s recent
passing to having a bad day at work, and going crazy with her credit card.
The title track, “Next Year”, sums up the theme of the album: change. Sarah comments, “A lot of people
have a lot of things they want to do before they die, but they don’t end up doing them. There’s always an
excuse not to change or try something new – whether it be a job, security, family, or fear. We always push
things off and say, ‘Next year, I’ll…’ There should be no next year. The only guarantee we have is right now.”
Sarah Cole is touring across Western Canada with Tim (who is also a singer/songwriter) throughout the
fall and into the winter. They will then be traveling and touring around Europe this spring.
