My jewelry is inspired from nature and political struggle. Both topics are so closely intertwined, but I will address them separately. Nature inspired jewelry that I create is an attempt to capture the Wu-Li, organic patterns in nature; the natural random chaos that nature offers. Color palettes are extremely important to me. To capture every color in the sunset, ocean or landscape is crucial to the communication that occurs between myself, the artist, and the attracted audience. To lay the colors and textures out in a manner that portrays patches of grass, patterns of Oak leaves and stratus clouds is what brings my art together.
Most of my work holds Native styled ingredients. I am a modern day Native Shoshone Indian/Mexican trying to bring the roots to the surface. All my pieces are made by my own hands.
I have been a professional jewelry maker since 1999. I have been making jewelry since I was a child.
In 2005 I started my small business, Sarah Creates.
In 2006 I started teaching jewelry making classes at Beadissimo, a bead shop in San Francisco. At Beadissimo I received an apprenticeship. I learned under the instruction of Katherine Richbourg. She taught me how to perfect my skills and make truly genuine and quality work. My skills range from stringing to fusing fine silver, wire wrapping to soldering metals and stain glass jewelry making.
In February 2007 I was accepted into San Francisco’s City Art Gallery; winner of Best Gallery on many occasions in San Francisco Weekly, Best of the Bay.
In September 2007 I was published in Bead Style Magazine.
In March 2008 I was published twice in Bead Style Magazine.
Currently I enjoy contributing my art to both the Historical Mission District in San Francisco and in Los Angeles, California.
Who I'd like to meet: I would like to meet fellow artists, art admirers and anyone who is interested in creating their own reality.
