| About Sarah Crews |
|
"For All This", my new release, is in the final stages of mixing! I started recording in March, 2008 with the incomparable Jonathan Best in his Prescott studio. Musicians who came together for this project include Jonathan Best ..boards and percussion, Tim Crews on mandolin, Don Charles on mandola, guitar and banjo, Deb Gessner on harp, concertina and bass harmonica, Carlos B. Jones on percussion, Scott Ellis on drums, Grace Burford and Rob Israel on bass, Sonny Ryan on electric guitar, Steve Pace on harmonica, Anton Teschner on acoustic guitar, and Liz Meyer and Jacqlyn Davoll on harmony vocals. I am so honored that these fine people all agreed to add their impeccable skill and really good energy to this music. The recording includes 15 original songs, including one written by my friend, the lovely Heidi Wilson. The inherently inspired Claire Crews has come up with an amazingly artistic design for the CD. I am so grateful for the support of my family and loads of friends in getting these songs finally recorded.
I wrote the song Lifeline when my sister, Rebecca Hawley was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2007. My intention with this song is to use it to establish a foundation to help those struggling with cancer to support any conventional treatments they may have chosen to pursue with alternative or complementary therapies not normally covered by insurance. Rebecca received immeasurable help through acupuncture and Chinese medicine while going through chemotherapy and radiation. Others I know receive regular massage therapy, attend yoga classes, see a naturopath, eat only organic foods. With financial help through the sales of Lifeline, these people can continue to pursue holistic healing without fear of going broke.
Three songs on the CD were inspired by the novel, The Girl from Charnelle by K.L. Cook. One Good Reason, Let U In and Take Me There. The songs on this recording range in style from indiegrass to country folk to acoustic rock.
