Okay, so here's the thing: I'm really indecisive. And it seems like this profile is, like, all about naming specific things. So I'm getting all High Fidelity about it, worried the minute I finish I'll think of ten others and then I'll have to go back to edit, and then edit again, and the next thing you know I won't do anything but tinker with it all day long and my career, such as it is, will end. So what can I say? I love to read (a requisite for a writer) and spend entirely too much time on the internet (see above). I watch a lot of television, a fact I used to be ashamed of, and now, not so much. This fall, it will be ten years since my first book came out, a fact that officially blows my mind. A couple of years back, two of my novels were made into a movie called How to Deal. Right now, I'm waiting for my seventh book, Just Listen,, to come out in April. Writing is honestly the only thing I've ever been able to say with any certainty that I do well. I am fair to middling at just about everything else, including but not limited to: cooking, cleaning (okay, less than middling on that one), discussing politics, balancing my checkbook and any and all sports. But if you want someone to quickly summarize this season of Gilmore Girls WHILE making deviled eggs, I am your girl.

I was really impressed with Along for the Ride. While I thought Lock and Key was great, of course, I didn't feel like I identified with the characters at all. As you know, this is a crucial part of loving a book. Along for the Ride was different, though. I always find myself up very very late. I hate going to sleep. So your book actually gave me nighttime inspiration. Ive gone bowling a few times, but unfortunately Wilmington doesn't have a big late night scene.

Anyway, just wanted you to know that i think your writing is brilliant and wonderful. I always hope to find my own Dexter or Wes or Owen (But pleasegodI'mbeggingyou, not Rogerson or Jason.)

I just wanted to tell you, I absolutely LOVE your books. My friend got me into reading one, and now I'm hooked. I've read every book but one, and I'm currently reading that last one now. I have to say, Just Listen and The Truth About forever was my favorite, but I do love the others too. You are my favorite author, and I can't wait to find out if you'll be writing another book because I'll be sure to get it.

& I just wanted to thank you for writing these books. I love how you include characters from OTHER books in some of them when there's two books that take place in the same city. And the fact that they all have great messages in them; I love it. Every one is a great book AND you pretty much learn something new about life when you read them. I love my friend for getting me into your books and I'll be sure to read any other you plan on writing.

You are one of my favorite authors! Your books are amazing, once I start reading them I can't put the book down. I just finished reading Along for the Ride a couple of weeks ago, and it has definitely become one of my new favorite of your books. I'm a sophomore in college, so Auden's age was more relatable for me. I also liked how you referred to previous characters, like Nate from Lock and Key. I love the paperback cover for Lock and Key. Anyway, you are an amazing writer and I love reading and re-reading your books.

    Sarah,
You've become my favorite author. You're writing leavesme breathless. Lock and Key became my favorite book, it was the last one I read. Well, up until Along for the Ride came out. I hope you realize how many people you inspire. I read a page and I can find a quote in it, it's so inspirational.

My friend introduced me to Dreamland first and I fell in love. After that I rushed through your other books. I'm upset that I rushed, I have nothikng to read now. I hope another book comes out by the next year, at least.

If you wrote back I'd be astonished, but that'd be amazing.

In other words, you've become a role model to me. Thank you.

    Love,
    Tayla.

i really think that "this lullaby" or "along for the ride" should be made into a movie.
or someone should make all your books intertwine into a tv series.
i don't know about anyone else but i would watch it.

I really wanted to read one of your books so that I could say I read a Sarah Dessen book in my lifetime, haha, that plus the fact that I've heard your books are so good. I just read "Along for the Ride." I'm 20 and a rising sophomore in college, and I felt like it would be the one to read since the lead character, Auden, is close in age with me. I really enjoyed it,  it made me realize that it's never too late to make a change. Well done, Sarah :)
