Okay, so here's the thing: I'm really indecisive. And it seems like this profile is, like, all about naming specific things. So I'm getting all High Fidelity about it, worried the minute I finish I'll think of ten others and then I'll have to go back to edit, and then edit again, and the next thing you know I won't do anything but tinker with it all day long and my career, such as it is, will end. So what can I say? I love to read (a requisite for a writer) and spend entirely too much time on the internet (see above). I watch a lot of television, a fact I used to be ashamed of, and now, not so much. This fall, it will be ten years since my first book came out, a fact that officially blows my mind. A couple of years back, two of my novels were made into a movie called How to Deal. Right now, I'm waiting for my seventh book, Just Listen,, to come out in April. Writing is honestly the only thing I've ever been able to say with any certainty that I do well. I am fair to middling at just about everything else, including but not limited to: cooking, cleaning (okay, less than middling on that one), discussing politics, balancing my checkbook and any and all sports. But if you want someone to quickly summarize this season of Gilmore Girls WHILE making deviled eggs, I am your girl.

Hey Sarah, I think you are an amazing writer! I read all the time and my usual philosophy is read something that you will take something with you when you finish it and every book of yours does that for me. After reading my first Dessen book (Just Listen) for the second time, I decided to apply my philosophy to it and use what I took, so it inspired me to use stories as poems rather than just my emotions. You are the reason that I have improved my poetry so drastically, and I can only say thank you for that. I cannot wait to finish the rest of your books and I hope you continue to release amazing novels. By the way, if you are ever in Kentucky, you can come over and hang out - I have every episode of Gilmore Girls on dvd :)

Ah, I'm so glad I found your myspace! You are my favorite author and my role model! I have spent many nights staying up extra late just to finish your books. They're so hard to put down. Your books are so fantastically written, and I love every one (well, the ones I've read so far - I have Just Listen and Along for the Ride left to read. Of course, I'm sure I'll enjoy them, too)! Your work has inspired me to continue with my writing, as well. You are so successful and great at what you do. Keep it up, and thank you for your contribution to my book collection!

Hi sarah, I just wanted to let you know how amazing you are. You are so gifted, it takes some serious talent to do what you do and you're fantastic. I've read this lulliby, the truth about forever, just listen, and lock and key. I swear I fall in love with all these guy characters. I just bought along for the ride today and I'm so excited to read it. I also love how all the characters from each book are tied together in some small way. I wish I was as talented as you, just keep doing what you're doing! Sincerely, bailey vituschi, a huge fan.

I have purchased and read all your books and can not pick a favorite. I love how all the books tie together in some way, by the places or the people. I'm waiting on more to come. Your books have helped me through many different times in my young adulthood. They have also helped me to start writing again myself. Thank you- I'm ready for another.

  • Sep 22 2009 7:38 PM

Your book Just Listen is my favorite. For some reason that book I could relate to more than any of your others. It was like the book was written for me. I do love all of your books and have them all! Your my favorite author and I love how in your books you see characters for one book in another book. Same with how you see landmarks from one in almost all. I love how you do that!!!!

I have read Lock and Key and Someone like you. I am on Just Listen, now. Your books are amazing. :) I hope that I can be a good writer like you one day. Someone like You is really sad to me and Lock and Key was the most amazing book I have ever read. Just Listen is hitting in the heart. I hope to read all your books:)

I have read, This Lullaby, Just Listen, Lock and Key, Someone Like You, and i am now on Dreamland. I cant tell you which one is my favorite, because they all are! i plan on picking up Along for the Ride tommorrow....I love your writing!! Can you please write a book with like a 20 year old? I will keep reading your books, but im done with the teenage thing..lol...it would be amazing to read a book about a girl around my age...i wish i would have picked up your books when i was in high school! This Lullaby was the first book i read of yours, and i read it at the end of my senior year. Sence then, i have been reading your books over and over!

thanks so much for being amazing!!

    lots of love!
