Sarah is a musician. She sings, plays a little accordion and tin whistle. She spends most of her time, though, with her favorite thing, the flute, which she uses to share sweet melodies with her audience. Born and raised in the Hudson Valley, N.Y., Sarah studied flute at Bard College where she earned a B.A. in music performance. In May 2006, she performed “Entrada” from Lukas Foss's “Renaissance Concerto for Flute and Orchestra” with the American Symphony Orchestra. Teachers include Patricia Spencer, Joan Tower, Dogen Kinowaki, Robert Dick, and Luis Garcia-Renart. She is the recipient of the Peter J. Stone Music Prize (2006), Clair Leonard Scholarship (2005), and the Betsy Richards Memorial Scholarship (2004). She recently received an M.S. in education and currently dedicates her time to teaching and performing. As a flutist, she is passionate about exalting and expanding the contemporary flute repertoire and simply spreading the joy of live music. Sarah often performs in the Hudson Valley region and neighboring states as a soloist and member of The Dust Bowl Band (Josh Tyler, Robin Schmidt, & Bernhard Spirig).
