A fun-loving, free-thinking person who loves life..I was a teenage rebel with a cause (see pics and Greenham Common ) who went on to Goldsmiths' College- where I became a queer activist. After college I worked as a radio journalist and then location directed/produced TV..In 2001 my life changed direction..hit a big bump in the road..ended up in a "drink and drugs hell" and after rehab am now happily 6 years clean and serene. I find writing very therapeutic- you can read about how I got clean at:
Drugs article (The Independent Newspaper) Mar 6, 2006.
Have now retrained and I'm a Priory qualified addictions' therapist and work for In-volve/nhs @ Respond..I also take on media projects that move me..Like this one
That's the last short film I directed- inspired by Maya Angelou's Still I Rise. Respect to Eileen- an amazing woman.
I've been on quite a journey in the last year. Overcoming shame and gaining acceptance of who I am has been central to my recovery. After a long struggle, I Came Out as intersex to my friends and colleagues and then the wider World- in The Independent newspaper. Which has been very freeing.
LookSmart's FindArticles - Health: The secret of my sex
Independent, The (London), Aug 8, 2006.
So far the only person who has ever rejected me was me! So, emboldened with new self-confidence I've been taking on all sorts of challenging stuff- like appearing live on Sky:
Last December a serial killer was killing working girls in Ipswich. This is me talking, as an expert comentator for FRANKTalk to Frank (factual drugs information) about addiction and why the street workers were risking their lives for heroin/crack.
Above is a film I did with Em about self harming (and Turner's incredible sun pics).
Combining my media work and knowldege of addiction and mental illness is really powerful and rewarding. Making something beautiful out of the painful experiences.
Another example of this work is: Ministry/FRANK drugs podcasts

Who I'd like to meet: Interesting people, directors, producers, writers, talent, other recovering people, therapists, funny people, Goldsmiths Alumni, anthropologists, artists, tech loving people, publishers, queer and intersexed people, activists- esp environmental, Greenham Women, actors, musicians and poets. And all spiritually inclined seekers..from whatever path. If anyone is friends with Maya Angelou- pls put me in touch with her. Thanks.

I have been trying to market a song, recorded by a top producer, in a quality studio about the Evacuees of WW2, of which my mum was one. It fits in to the commercial market, is radio friendly and was recorded as a top 10 single. However, the management team that was supporting me disloved and i have been trying ever since to push it myself.
Brick wall after brick wall after brick wall...
it's called nepotism... its in every business/walk of life and its a compleat bastad.
The song is on my myspace and called 'Goodbye Johnny' if you wanna have a listen, with a review.
It would work on GMTV, and many other 'media interest' programmes but......
silence.
So i kinda now what its like to be screaming at a brick wall....
first of all wow. you have my song on your page. lol im glad you like it. and thanks for the comments, i felt i wasnt prepared enough to be on live radio, but gave it my best. i hope people listen to my music, and if not learn, but at least relate to it.
It's time for yer monthly dose of yer favourite Homo Electro Punk Disco with DJ Wanker, A-Dam and the boy wonder Missy Lectric on the decks.
Tonight we've got the wonderful Brighton boy-girl Electro duo, Beauty Skool Dropout, playing some knockout songs absolutely live for you. That's FiFi from Fierce's band, you know? Course you did. You're a pretty cool kid.
See you there - and, remember, this is the last chance you'll have to get a fag in your mouth at FTPA.
