Mixed Portuguese Irish Montrealer, Sarah Linhares, began singing in her church choir at an early age. Since then, Sarah's life has been shaped by an active imagination, a love of music and the arts, a strong desire for connection and spirituality, worldly travels, her struggle for personal liberation, and the constant determination to live out her ideals of freedom and creative expression.
Linhares' musical training came from spending many years singing in a multitude of gospel and classical choirs, attending private vocal lessons, playing piano and then percussion in Estacao Da Luz, Montreal's Afro Brazilian Samba School. Sarah is also a dancer and has trained and performed in Brazilian and Latin dance for many years. Her musical influences are vast and include Soul, Jazz, Gospel, RnB, Brazilian and Latin music, Hip Hop, Drum and Bass, and Broken Beat. She now fuses all those inspirations together to create "Future Soul" music which will be featured on her upcoming record.
In 2005, Sarah teamed up with Soltribe and spent four months writing, training, recording, and performing in Venezuela. Soltribe recorded a demo album and released a digital single called Pura Vida on Public Transit Recordings, featuring a Fred Everything remix in 2008. In September 2007, she made her mark upon the international music map when she was granted a highly coveted spot as participant at the Red Bull Music Academy in Toronto. In addition, she was featured on Moonstarr’s album, Instrumentals Forever, on P-Vine Japan 2008. Linhares launched her debut solo record, Messages From The Future EP, summer 2009 as a preview to her upcoming full length slated to drop Spring 2010.
