Interests

  • General

Writing till it hurts, reading until I can't keep my eyes open, parting my hair in a different way in hopes that someone will notice and accidentally call me pretty, swashbuckling, high heels, aerobics, using euphemisms, tearing down cliches and stereotypes, breaking molds, helping strangers.
  • Music

TOOL, Porcupine Tree, Santana, Theory of a Dead Man, Sublime, Rancid, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Ani Difranco, Aimee Mann, Three 6 Mafia... I can enjoy any kind of music for the most part, I'm partial to early 90s gangster rap, mid 90s feminazi music, emo, rockabilly, electronica meets folk meets metal... I have eclectic music tastes. Not ecclesiastic, that means I'd like "Ave Maria". Though, Amazing Grace is one of my favorite songs.
  • Movies

The Shawshank Redemption, Fight Club, Lord of War, V for Vendetta, Goodfellas... heavily narrated movies which show the darker side of humanity or tell intricate, character focused stories usually are the best bet with me.
  • Television

Scrubs, The Daily Show with John Stewart, The Colbert Report, The Food Network (yes, anything on there, from Paula Deen's fat butter loving old country self to Rachel Ray's skanky pep squad EVOO obsession. I'm a foodie. Like, I'd give Tom Calichio a blow job while Alton Brown filmed it from inside of an oven.) I am a history channel nerd, also. There's something about old white guys with soothing voices telling me the history of cocaine that I just can't get enough of.
  • Books

The Divine Comedy, Brave New World, 1984, The Fountainhead, Jane Eyre, North and South, The Great Divorce, Man's Search for Meaning, The Screwtape Letters, Choke, A Separate Peace, Catch 22, Atlas Shrugged, The Time Machine, The Giver, The Great Influenza, I'm Not Scared, anything David Sedaris ever wrote, Choke, The Stand, this list could go on for days so let's leave it at I studied literature in college and I am a speed reader. A thousand page novel takes me a day if I'm busy that day.
  • Heroes

Marc Smith, Taylor Mali, Anne Rice, Jane Eyre, Mahatma Gandhi, My Grandmother... anyone that has the nerve to want change and make it happen. People with microphones and brains and the ability to put the two together meaningfully. All slam poets everywhere.

About me:

I thought about making this "about me" section incredibly verbose and over-elegant, but it's MySpace, and I doubt anyone would have stopped to read. So, here goes. I'm a 20-something (no, that's not any of your business how many somethings are involved) Mom born and bred in Louisiana. I like to talk, a lot. I read voraciously. I write so hard my hands hurt some times. I am addicted to online games and they don't even have to be good, really. I mean ridiculous shit... penguin toss. Yes, penguin toss. I watch a lot of movies and listen to a lot of music and you can typically find me in the World History section at any bookstore nose deep in something no one in their right mind should be reading. I don't say that to impress you, I say that so you can know how sick I am. I'm probably the smartest "sweet girl" you'll ever meet. There's some impression that smart women have to be bitches and I don't think that's necessarily true.

Who I'd like to meet:

Bookworms, musicians, people with a lot of tattoos and/or scars, artists, others who are afraid of the dark and themselves but not other people, slam poets, liberals, conservatives, shoppers, gamers, dancers, gypsies, pickpockets, loose women.
