Stunning, sensual, intense, and angelic have been a few of the words used to describe Sarah Siddiqui at first glance...But the second this 5'9 beauty whispers a note...she'll break your heart. She's just a soulful being with a lot of emotion and past lives. Sarah Siddiqui sings right from the core, it's as if you're invading her privacy as a listener.
Where does it all come from? Sarah's father passed away when she was only 14 yrs old. But he first became ill when she was 6 yrs old. He had 3 multiple strokes and heart attacks. She had to grow up fast. It didn't take long for her to realize how precious life was and that if she was going to be on this earth, then she may as well live it and live it with love. The passing of her father continues to resonate inbetween all of the lines of her songs...he's somewhere there in every note she sings...her love for him... her desperation to keep connected to him and connected to life and living in general has turned into something beautiful...it's in her voice, an untouchable purity and inner beauty beyond words can describe.

Sarah's music is genre-bending..it's timeless and she's created her own sound. Her voice is a thing of beauty as it's grounded right in her soul. There's a purity...a brutal honesty in her songwriting. She doesn't beat around the bush or sugar coat the dark and ugly times. Born to a critically acclaimed poet....writing came natural to Sarah.
She is a SELF MADE singer songwriter/ producer...a musical and lyrical rarity and has been carving out her own path...a talent to be reckoned with. She's definately not just a pretty face.
Sarah has already shared the stage with many prominent Canadian acts: Shaye (Dahmnait Doyle, Kim Stockwood, Tara McLean), Chris Brown & Kate Fenner, Taima (Aboriginal Juno Winners), Diggin Roots, Mark Cassidy, Peter Katz, Dayna Manning, Jean O'brien, as well as formidable musicians, Tim Bovaconti (Ron Sexsmith), Santosh Naidu (k-os), Michael Churchill, Paul Brennan, and David Celia. She's also recorded with critically acclaimed instrumentalist Jesse Cook, and producer Dave Newfeld (Broken Social Scene), at their request. In 2003 Sarah was nominated for best singer/songwriter at the MyBindi Awards.
That was an excellent set at the Supermarket. Full of vocal passion, strong onstage presence, just radiating beautiful music prowess. I especially enjoyed Show Me. Well done.
