  • Bio

This LA based singer-songwriter and her band "Sarah Stanley and The Longhaired Cousins" have become local favorites in LA’s live music venues, including The Cinema Bar, Taix, El Cid, Room 5, House of Blues and the Grand Old Echo. Her songs have heard on Showtime, HBO, Lifetime and ABC. Sarah is lucky enough to co-write with some of the best singer-songwriters in the city, including Dafni, David Serby, Grant Langston, and Davey Meshell of the Neighborhood Bullys, ("Let Me Be Me" was produced by legendary Mike Chapman.) Her second CD, “Long Road to Leave You” was released by Fatoak Records, as well as 2004's "Sarah Stanley," and "Tuesday Girl" was released in September of 2009. You can buy the CDs on www.cdbaby.com or get the songs on iTunes. Americana UK: “…packed with lots of subtle accessible charm…” “…reminiscent of the hypnotic melancholy perfection that Ryan Adams achieved circa his ‘29’ peak.” Rarwriter: …”Stanley's rich voice…is a pitch-perfect exercise in weary, hopeful coquettishness.” “…letters from the front, beautifully conceived, orchestrated and delivered…” Country Music Report: “…would have been perfect for the soundtrack for "Kill Bill." “…a strong record that can be enjoyed by anyone.” Pasadena Weekly: “Elegant melodic shapes and the underlying grit of Stanley’s salty-sweet vocals boost the poignance and power…” No Depression: “…sultry, quavering vocals convey emotion and sensuality.” ..CLICK HERE TO BUY CD.. About the CD titled "Sarah Stanley," MAVERICK MAGAZINE SAYS : *** a well produced set that straddles the boundaries between folk-rock, country and Americana. Stanley, who wrote or co-wrote nine of the ten songs, ventures into heartache ballads, painful confessionals and sad sagas, but has several songs that can still elicit a smile due to their musical excellence. Tuck Me In, This Bottle, San Antonio and the closing Last Song are the most memorable on offer here. A very cerebral disc; if you like Norah Jones, Kasey Chambers and Lucinda Williams, this disc could be for you.
