Sara Moss is a Poet, Editor and Political Activist based in Queensland Australia.
Sara has been writing, publishing and performing poetry for 15 years. Her work has been published in numerous journals in print and online. Her first print collection, A Deep Fear of Trains, was released in 2000 by Interactive Publications, the first title in their Emerging Authors Series. Sara performed at successive Queensland Poetry Festivals from 1998 – 2004, first as an individual poet and then as part of the Synaptic Graffiti Collective. She has also appeared at the Brisbane Writers Festival and numerous cafe and pub venues as a featured author.
In 2003, Sara formed the Synaptic Graffiti Collective with her partner Shane Carter (Scart), their aim was to blend the art of poetry with music, art and multimedia for Web, CD/DVD and live performances. In 2004, they released “Slam the Body Politik”, an interactive CDROM featuring the work of over 100 contributors from across Australia and Overseas. The launch was followed up with live multimedia performances incorporating spoken word, music and artistic projections. Sara was the organising editor for the CDROM and the script director for live performances, as well as contributing both individual and collaborative works to the project.
In addition to her own creative efforts, Sara worked as an editor for the Brisbane-based publisher Interactive Publications from 1997-2005. Her chief tasks were manuscript appraisal and the editing of poetry works. She also edited the company’s online newsletter.
