Hi, my name is Sarah Tan. My myspace name is sarantan because SOMEONE... I don't know who... took my beloved "girltarist" username. Just to set the record straight... I am the original "girl-tarist", "girltarist", etc, etc, etc! LOL... but seriously, since November 2003, haha.
Since I was younger, I always wanted to be in a band.... I'm still waiting. Haha. No, but really... I've played in countless worship/praise bands for CFC - Youth For Christ, played in my high school's choir, stage bands, concert bands, and even a couple times at a night club for a Minerva Records gig. I have also played at the Ricoh Coliseum (in Toronto) twice for St. Bernadette's Family Resource's "You are the Light of the World" Youth Rallies for over 6000 elementary and high school students.
I love learning instruments, and over the years have had many opportunities inside and outside of school to do so. I have learned most instruments on my own, or I have had little instruction... So, I'm not that good. Haha. Here is a list of instruments that I have ATTEMPTED to learn over the years:
I am currently looking for new instruments to learn. Any suggestions?
As for my music, I am still in the process of learning how to write a few decent lyrics. So, to compensate for my lack of originality, I cover other people's music. When I hear a band that I really enjoy, I obsess, and obsess, and obsess over it, and I try to learn as much as I can. Therefore, I am quite fluent in the ways of Tegan & Sara, My Chemical Romance, Daphne Loves Derby, Jack's Mannequin, Simple Plan and many others. If you need/want me to learn something, I'll learn it. For example, I'm not the biggest John Mayer fan out there, but if you want me to help you out (i.e., if you are looking for a bassist), I will set my hate aside for the fellow, and learn some JM songs! Haha.
If you have read this far, then, KUDOS to you. Again, please take your time to listen to my covers, and check out my other sites with more music!
Hey, just wanted to say thanks for the add. You have a nice sound! I like your original, More Than You'll Say. Keep up the awesome playing and singing!
