And so, my fellow americans: ask not what your country can do for you - ask what you can do for your country. My fellow citizens of the world: ask not what America will do for you, but what together we can do for the freedom of man.
John F. Kennedy (1917 - 1963), Inaugural address, January 20, 1961
Every day is the punchline to a new and even funnier joke. Arizona has provided me with enough world class people watching to keep all of Lorne Michael's writers toiling like Bob Crachet's dirty secret. It would be hard to imagine the OC being more pretentious. Never have I seen more people in leased umpteen thousand dollar cars striving to convince one another they have arrived. I am native to the big island of Hawaii, and have lived in Arizona for the last three years. I have a useless degree from the U of Maryland (Go Terps!!!). I didn't join the Navy, so much as they rescued me from my parents. They let me play with guns and jump out of helicopters, which was fun. I visited a good chunk of the world as an instrument of diplomacy, and helped bring democracy to the unwashed masses of uninitiated. Even if it killed them.
It could be said that I have partied with a reckless disregard for consequence, but those that were present enjoyed the ride. I live to ride my donor cycle. People ask me if Phoenix traffic doesn't scare me and I always reply that if you don't live life on the edge, you take up too much space. I never for a minute thought I would live past age 23, so this is all bonus time. No time to be conservative, I play harder than ever. I have a beautiful circle of friends, who in reality have become family. Those you choose to love in my experience are more genuine than those inflicted by DNA and chance. Currently, I am between wives, and no one has bothered me about child support. I imagine I'd have heard something by now...
I'm working on regaining my faith. I'm open to it, and have been doing some volunteer work with the Phoenix Rescue Mission. It is the best part of my week.
I prefer my Spotted Owl with Tabasco sauce... Money may not buy happiness, but poverty assures misery.
Get at me, and I'll get at you... Peace!
