    Sare's Interests
GeneralLong road trips, dusk, green chile, red chile, mango, lazily listening to music, a fresh blanket of snow, reading books & magazines, the radio--especially WFMU, my family, remembering my Grandpa's garden and the paint on his hands; sunday morning; a strong cup of coffee with lots o' cream and sugar; swimming in pools, lakes, rivers, the ocean; synchronized swimming, the desert, sunflowers, talking about religion and politics; my old house on #3 Memory Lane; Gato, Blondie and Lola; telling ghost stories, Beethoven, Shakespeare, dust floating in the light, dancing, movies, reading, love, going through boxes of old photos and old videos, stop motion animation, documentaries, films of all kinds, trapeze, modern dance, theater.
Musicso many/but I will try to start the list! New Music I've found and love = arthur russell and quinn walker tom waits, gillian welch, hip hop( favs=Missy Elliot, Outkast, Snoop Dog); bjork, larry yes, danielle stech-homsy, lavander diamond, the plants, rollerball, dramady, panther, the gossip, kimya dawson, art of flying, joanna newsom, cocorosie, johnny cash, willie nelson, marianne faithful, bob dylan, the trachtenburg slideshow players, marianne faithful, Mirah, The Talking Heads, the new fusion of latin and hip-hop Reggae-Tone, rufus wainwright, the white stripes, smashing pumpkins, the beatles, old-school rolling stones, led zepplin, cheesy 80's music like Madonna, Phil Collins(solo-oh yeah-guilty pleasures),world music (especially Cuban and other music from Latin America), Beethoven, Bach and basically any classical piece with the cello as a featured instrument, six floot sloth, devendra banhardt, beck, le tigre, moondog, iron and wine, brian eno, blonde redhead, the walkman, spooky dance band......
MoviesMovies I've seen recently that I loved----The Diving Bell and the Butterfly, Murderball, Pan's Labriynth, The Day the Leeves Broke"(the 4 hour doc by spike lee/depressing; sure-important for all us citizens to see; yes!); Little Miss Sunshine, Sophie Scholl(so sad but good)The Science of Sleep, Duck Season, Water, Quincenera, The 7-UP Documentary series(49Up just came out--check your local theater), The Rage in Placid Lake, Night of the Hunter(old horror film that is simply the best--Childreenn!)---The Spirit of the Beehive(made in Spain in the 1960's dreamy vision)---The Fog of War(this interview with Robert McNamara is not be missed), Rize, Grizzly Man Old Time Favs: Grey Gardens(a must see--old money aristocracy meets the end of the rope with a eccentric beauty and grace---long live Edie!); Amelie
TelevisionBig Love and random reality shows that such me in despite my best intentions.
BooksCurrently: No good books right now, HELP! My running list of books I've read and loved.... "The Mirror Garden" by Monir Farmanfarmaian; "Divisidero" by Michael Ondaatje,"Water for Elephants" by Sarah Gruen, "The Gravediggers Daughter" by Joyce Carol Oates/ "The Hypocrisy of Disco" by Clane Hayward--it is a memoir of a hippie childhood split between New Mexico and Sonoma County in the 1980's. Books I have read more recently at the top of my head----"Love in the Time of Cholera" by Gabriel Garcia Marquez "The Last Temptation of Christ" by Nikos Kazantzakis; "While I Lay Dying" by William Faulkner; "How the Garcia Girls Lost Their Accents" and"In the Time of the Butterflies" by Julia Alvarez; "One Hundred Years of Solitude" by Gabriel Garcia Marquez; any short stories by Joyce Carol Oates, the poetry of Jimmy Santiago Baca, "The Year of Magical Thinking" and "California" both by Joan Didion, "My Fundamentalist Education" by Christine Rosen(a really great telling from the childs perspective growing up in a fundamentalist religion); Ursula LeGuin,---I love short stories and essays about life whether it be personal or political.
Heroesthose that take risks to follow their inner vision, whatever that may be, in the quest for a particular creative act/whether that is art, family, science, politics, in the home, close to the bone or for the greater good. It is not the attention that a particular action generates, but the genuine and loving intention of that individual to do something that is making themselves and the world around them just a bit better. It is not an easy feat to stay positive and forward thinking....heroes for me tend to be personal, intimate, people I have known closely---family, friends, mentors.

Hey Hey Saressa C,
Grandma's visist to Italy was great. They had some rough moments but she saw a lot and enjoyed her self. Sienna just broke her arm on Tues but is doing ok. I am currently gettin ready for Disneyland and then moving when I get back. I hate to leave my little house but I need to save some money so Kelly and I are moving in together. Other than that all is well... getting ready to start another school year. i will be teaching K-2 grade. SHould be a busy year.
How are you? How is Oregon? You coming for Christmas this year? Miss you mucho! XOXO your lil cuz

Hey Sare

Watch our latest video we did for the Norwegian artist Julian Berntzen.
We did pixilation style stop-motion. (If you'd like, then you can go to the youtube page for it and click "watch in high quality" it looks better that way)
Anyway, let me know what you think! I hope you like it.

Good morning to you too!
Thanks. :)
The paintings here are just the tip of the iceberg. Large paintings are hard to photograph, other things I'm not so comfortable posting in this forum, etc., etc.
Thanks for lookin'.
I've been meaning to check out your videos, but I haven't been around any high-speed internets.
Coming home anytime soon?
Take care.
:)
