TelevisionHaven't watched TV these days while I have been traveling or living with friends who have bad TV signals. I used to love and hate (but was still watching) "Friends" and "Sex and the City" regularly. Also had enjoyed MTV's "Real World" as my guilty pleasure (but feeling too old to watch that now). Well, aside from watching the Discovery's Travel Channel, I do watch "Desperate Housewives" every now and then...
BooksSeries of travel stories written by Paul Theroux (This year's highlight is "Dark Star Safari"); L'Amerique au jour le jour 1947 (by Simone de Beauvoir); Poetry and novels by some Chinese writers (ancient or modern ones); Books about film theory and film-making. Also, American Journal of Public Health, mind you.
HeroesMy Mom, sort of.

   Wellesley (虹在天涯)'s Blurbs
About me:

Well, I am now in a transitional stage of my life. I just returned from traveling to Africa, Europe, Middle East and Alaska/British Columbia. By the way, I just traveled to my 100th country in May ("countries" defined by the definition of Traveler's Century Club) and officially become a "centurion". Now I need to return to the job market, damn! Also, I need to make a decision if I should leave my adapted home for good to be closer to my family and friends...

Countries I have been to:

Countries/Autonomous territories I've visited and stayed overnight in Asia: Taiwan, South Korea, Japan, Thailand, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Singapore, Cambodia, Vietnam, Indonesia (only Bali Island), and Turkey (Asian part), Dubai (United Arab Emirates).

Countries/Autonomous territories I've visited but not stayed overnight in Asia: China (only Guanzou), Macau, Laos (only a small island in the miidle of Mekong River), Burma (only the border town of Tachelik).

Countries/Autonomous territories I've visited and stayed overnight in Europe: England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland (Shouldn't they be counted as one?), France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany (both former West and East Germany), Switzerland, Austria, Italy, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Greece (including mainland, Cycladic Islands and Ionian Island of Corfu), Czech Republic, Spain (including mainland Spain and the Balearic Island of Ibiza), Russia, Portugal, Turkey, Hungary, Poland, Serbia, Bosnia & Herzegovina (Bosnia-Croat federation), Montenegro, Croatia, Slovenia, Albania, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Romania, Bulgaria, Ireland, Luxembourg, San Marino, Macedonia, (UN Protectorate) Kosovo.

Countries/Autonomous territories I've visited but not stayed overnight in Europe: Andorra, Liechtenstein, Vatican City, Monaco, Slovak Republic, Republika Srpska of Bosnia.

The special territories I've already entered but then deported because I had no VISA (being a Taiwan citizen) in Europe: Gibraltar.

Countries/territorries I've visited and stayed overnight in Africa: Egypt, South Africa, Islas Canarias (a Spanish territory), Namibia, Botswana, Zambia, Malawi, Tanzania (Mainland), Zanzibar (No. 100 country!!), Kenya, Uganda.

Countries/territorries I've visited but not stayed overnight in Africa: Zimbabwe

Countries territories I've visited and stayed overnight in North America (including some Atlantic Islands): USA (lower 48 and Alaska), Canada, Bermuda, and Bahamas.

Countries territories I've visited and stayed overnight in Central America and the Caribbeans: Puerto Rico, Guatemala, and Honduras.

Countries/territories I've visited and but not stayed overnight in Central America and the Caribbeans: U.S. Virgin Islands (St. Thomas and St. John's), Dutch St Maaten and French St Martin (they are in fact on the same island), Dominica, Barbados, Martinique, St. Kitts, Aruba, Curaçao, and Mexico (only Tijuana) .

Countries territories I've visited and stayed overnight in South America: Peru, Ecuador (including Galapagos Islands), Chile, Argentina, Brazil.

Countries/territories I've visited and but not stayed overnight in South America: Uruguay (Only Colonia) and Paraguay (Only the very nasty Ciudad del Este).

Countries/territories I've visited and stayed overnight in Oceania: Hawaii (US), Australia and New Zealand.

This might not count, but...

Countries/Autonomous territories I've visited their airport but did not even got off the airplane and touch their ground: Columbia (Bogota Airport) and Ethiopia (Addis Ababa).

Did you see there are more than 100 of them there?

And yes, it is official now: I ban myself from traveling to any new country until 2010 (unless it is job-related). I just need to focus more on other aspects in my life. But thinking about there are still 100+ countries I can 'revisit,' life ain't really that bad....
Who I'd like to meet:
People....(and people who needs people since they are the luckiest...)

I am a very shy person and usually end up a wallflower when I go to a party. Yes, I'm that quiet Asian guy sitting in the corner (Not because I cannot speak English since I am multi-lingual).

Nice to hear from you Wen! Yes, both Stevens Point and Eau Claire are in WI. Stevens Point is directly in the middle of the state and Eau Claire is further west closer to Minneapolis than Madison. If you have some time you should swing in to town and hang out for a night or two. We'd love to see you. Hope to hear from you soon. jon and rachael

Things here are going great! I love summer in NYC. My dissertation proposal was approved and I just had another JAMIA paper accepted this week. How about you... It looks like you've been doing a fair bit of traveling! Where is your "home base" right now?
