Hey! This is my site and as such it's all about me.....as it should be....RIGHT?
Depending on whom I work with the lineup changes but here is a sample of some of the artists I have had the pleasure of working with in the past, on stage or in the studio, as drummist, percussionist, programmer, drum tech, keyboard tech or tour manager:
The Arrows, Images In Vogue, Lee Aaron, Triumph, Glass Tiger, Gowan, Tu, Platinum Blonde, Teenage Head,The Harrison Fjord, The Parachute Club, Grindig, Mary Wilson, Sass Jordan, Tom Cochrane, Kim Mitchell, Lenni Jabour,
Vivian George, Duke Redbird, Earrl, The Brides, Bitter, Esthero, Bob Dylan, Rita Coolidge, GNP,Michael Damian Band and a few others that I can't seem to recall right now. Then there are the countless demos of songwriters and local bands that I have the good fortune of being able to contribute to.
Once in a while I get a good workout playing with friends in a Toronto based production called Classic Albums Live which takes me to the US for shows in Orlando Florida.
Currently I'm working with two great friends creating music of the moment, in the moment. The project is called SPLUB. It's a trio and we use all sorts of acoustic and electronic gear. We congregate at my studio, set up our gear, mic it all up and then we PLOW for hours on end. The result is pure madness and ranges from ambient to fusion and it simply RAWKS! We've got a page on myspace....type in SPLUBBAND and you'll get there. Radio guru David Marsden debuted our music on his radio program on Feb 7th and followed it up with some great props. He is THE voice of radio as far as I am concerned. Check him out Thursdays and Fridays at THE ROCK...94.9 FM or you can catch him online.
Influences
Well it all starts here doesn't it, with the likes of (in no specific order) Buddy Rich, Gene Krupa, Clive Bunker, Danny Gotlieb, Stewart Copeland, Bill Bruford, Terry Bozzio, Peter Criss, Pat Mastellato, Tony Williams, Ralph Humphires, Frank Zappa, Ruth Underwood, Bernard Purdie, Philly Joe Jones, Steve Gadd, Simon Philips, Narada Michael Walden, Ringo Starr, Vinnie Colaiuta, Chester Thompson, Dennis Chambers and the list goes on and on and on.....
Then there are the rest of the instruments that make up the modern day 'orchestra' and players such as Trey Gunn, Steve Vai, Adrian Belew, Robert Fripp, Steve Howe, Steve Cropper, Keith Emerson, Andre Segovia, Pat Metheny, Al DiMiola, Victor Wooten, Allan Holdsworth, Charles Mingus, Miles Davis, The Bee Gees, Karen Carpenter, Simon and Garfunkel, Darryl Hall, Thomas Dolby and the rest of the influences that I'll get to later on in the story.
Sounds Like
What Just Happened?
I am fascinated by the variety of textures and colours that can be presented from the drum chair, so a healthy complement of metal, wood and plastic are always part of my arsenal as is a delicious amount 'the new stuff'....
I was introduced to digital music synthesis and it's technology while in it's infancy - and although not always reliable - I have incorporated it in my work since it's infancy. Arp, Moog, Oberheim, Sequential Circuits and Simmons in the 80's to software based systems such as Ableton Live, Digital - Midi Drum Kit controllers by Roland and KAT and intuitive, real time synthesizers - music technology holds a dear space in my heart, my sound and my music.
So to answer the 'Sounds Like' bit.... give my work a listen, form an opinion and drop me a line telling me what YOU think.
Thanks for the indulgence!

Ummm..yes...well it started off like this...my parents 'put it in' around the end of July 1962 and I dropped in April of '63. My grandfather prophesied that I would be a musician when i was around 5 years old...School...skating, skiing, music, music and....music school...first the Salzburg Mozarteum in Austria, then Boston's Berklee and finally Toronto's Humber...and the school of hard knocks...the road..day in and day out...now we're talking real education.....then Windsor...and from there around the world...Toronto is my home...the world is my oyster....can you pass me the hot sauce? Lately I've been building (2008/2009), relocating home and studio has been an at times overwhelming experience.... in the 'in between time' I've had the opportunity to master a few records...solo guitar works...and I love it....Google me, email me....phone me.....please?
