Influences
My song "Sally Lee was born in the Delta" was lyrically a menage of memories about growing up in Memphis in the 60's and early 70's. growing up in the Delta and singin on Beale St from when I was about 13 to 18 on the street corner with the old dudes passin the hat around, and playing the spoons. Those days are gone. But the memories make me who I am and Im grateful I got to be there and be me. This song was difficult to write and follows no form at all, but its about my parents before I was born, cotton farmers, and my sister who died when she was 25 and was a gospel singer as was I. Its about me being baptised in the "church on Christmas Day:" which is when I had the WHAMMY!~ the cosmic spiritual experience that has defined me from that moment on till this day.. and in the old Southern Baptist church. go figure. I have seen energy and beamin souls since then. and on that note Ill say.. VIBEJAY my beloved friend from Argentina came along, heard the song a'capella and asked for the story, absorbing every word. He then added the electronic sound to the T! including the song my father and my Aunt Grace sang as I was baptized" Onward Christian Soldiers" in just the 1950's choir vein that it truly happened in. This man who comes from the other side of the world, truly listened to my words and my feelings, and what a gift it is to me. There is I believe one fella playin piano throughout otherwise its all my darling Vibe, doin his thing and feelin the heart of a little Beale Street baby
after all this time and all this way.

He repectfully contacted me and asked if he might add music to my a'capella song.. which involved much trust and collaboration on both our parts. I think he did a fine job.
