WHAT IS IT ALL ABOUT? Sat in meditation twiddling my mental tadge and wondering what the fuck is wrong with punk scene these days I came upon the idea of a tour. Nothing original there then, but what if the tour contained bands that I worked closely with and whom fulfilled the fungalpunk criteria in regards as having spirit, attitude and enthusiasm as well as needing a step up on the punk rock ladder.
Of course egos and bullshitters wouldn't be tolerated and the whole tour would be a DIY back to basics punk rock show. The inevitable title created itself and seemed totally reflective of what the tour was about. Now then the question was do I go alone or dabble in a joint venture! Andy from Noize Anoize seemed to be of the same ideals as me and I thought he was the ideal first contact. With a clutch of bands under his wing and whom all needed more assistance in getting gigs and establishing a name it appeared that a joint tour could be a winner and a nice way to share a bit of pressure. The call was made - Andy immediately thought it was a good idea and away we went setting the tour dates from the end of May 2006 to the beginning of July 2006. After 2 weeks of phone calls and badgering people 10 dates were already in place and the main hardcore of 8 bands seemed well up for it.
As of writing everything seems to be going well and a few more dates would be nice. Of course we need punters to watch the gigs and in order to get this we need to promote it well and keep entrance fees value for money as well as hopefully cover bands expenses. OMD

For me the spit & sawdust tour represents what punk should be about, total diy and taking punk out of the staduims and festivals and back onto the streets. 2006 is the 30th anniversary of punk as we know it and the sas tour is a great way to get back to basics. There are some cracking bands taking part in the tour, covering the wide variety of sounds that is punk. Although dealing with a large number of bands on one tour could be a nightmare, we dont forsee any problems. Within all the bands theres no egos, nobody out to make a quick buck, in fact most bands will probably loose a bit of money on the tour and they know that but they are up for it.
As of writing all Saturday dates are in place and we are now looking for Friday's and the Odd Sundays before we complete the schedule on the 1st of January 06. If you are reading this and have any interest in the UK Punk rock scene, get off your arses and make it to one of the gigs, not only will you be guarenteed a great day/night but you will realise theres more to punk than wasted. Allright Dave. Thought today at Joshua Brookes was a belter of a gig. Great Venue, great bands, very good sound system. If the rest of the SAS tour is that good you will have pulled a major triumph.
Well Done.
