Satamile goes to the movies! The Lab of Madness is proud to present their feature film debut, "Described as "THE BREAKFAST CLUB with chainsaws and hard drugs". MURDER PARTY is a Halloween night misadventure with great gags and plenty of splatter!
Satamile had its roots formed back in the very early 90's rave scene of New
York City . The Art world in NY was boring and Techno/Raves were exciting with thousands of music heads gathering in huge warehouses and even inside the Brooklyn Bridge to be part of emerging new music genre. Many of us were escaping the staleness of NY clubs and boring rock bands to a place where stage worship was not the prescribed behavior. It was about community, huge sound systems and the most cutting edge music of that time blasting into the early morning hours. The stay up forever crowd.
In 1991, Andrew Price, the founder of the label, started writing electronic music and performing in various venues live. Famous clubs such as Robots, The Kitchen, The Garage and many more dotting the landscape of the Lower East side of NY .It was a period of cheap rents, big freedoms and incredibly vibrant night life all later wipe out by Mayor Guilliani. Around the year of 1993, we started throwing Electro events with support from Peter W. from Astralwerks and Brian a prominent Graphic designer.
These were the first and the foundation years for Static electro events,
well in advance of much hyped electro scene to come later around 2001.
Static events went through many venue changes and resident Dj changes
through the years but still continues today with a emphasis on new music,
graphic design and over 400 events! . Thats almost 14 Years of Doing
Events!! We believe in keeping to our roots and putting parties behind our
music.
An integral part of our growth was Strange? Records a premiere Electro
store which opened around 1994, on the Lower Eastside becoming a large influence of the label, Andrew Price’s Dj career and exposure to music.
Strange? was owned and operated by Collin Strange a genius for music
selection and encyclopedia mind with endless memory banks for music. We
lived day and night out of Strange? waiting for records to come and
welcoming the likes of Autechre, Adult, Chemical Brothers, The Orb, and
many more into the store. Collin ordered the records and we played them
and did parties, breaking the new Electro Scene, IDM scene and the Minimal
scene into NY nightlife. Strange? was different from other stores, we
played nothing commercial and were never afraid of playing so called risky
front line material and not to follow in the footsteps of commercial Dj's.
It was our spot on 9th st. and its fair to say we were the Strange? Gang.
Satamile Records grew out of Strange? and was Incorporated in 1995 to
officially become a registered Record Label in NY City with its first release
by Satamile self (Andrew Price) "micro mince" . The label was really about developing a new and better Electro sound, for ravers and clubbers , to pick up where Kraftwerk left off, and push further, bigger and more aggressive. We are not "pure electro", but simply Electro. . with artist such as E.M.S. who makes his own Synthesizers and Drum Machines doing release's Sat.002 and 003 , must-have for electro heads, and producers such as Carl Finlow who simply works on his computer. We comprise a wide range of sounds and Artists from around the world with a purpose driven objective of making electro achieve more for tomorrow. Today our records have been played by countless Dj's in Clubs and partys around the world with support from the likes of Craig Richards at Fabric, London, Andrew Weatherall , Mark Broom, Dave Clarke, and many many more Dj's placing the label in the international charts of
countless countries.
Today Satamile records continues with a wide range of projects after
relocating to San Francisco in 2006. The last 6 LPS all went into the top 15
of national College Radio Charts, quite impressive for a little indy.
Blotnik Brothers signed material to Dave Clarke, along with many Satamile
artists recently playing live on his BBC radio show. The late and cherished
John Peel was one of our great supporters for Satamile artists on Radio One
BBC. In 2006 we were selected as a label showcase at the prestigious Midem
Music in Cannes France quite an honor. Bytecon tracks licensed to the famous
indy film "Murder Party" and Satamile at Robodock festival are but a few
recent highlights of the label.
We are comprised of three labels , Satamile (the godfather) , Bot (more
downtempo) and SatRx for remix's of Satamile material by artist such as
Tipper and Si Begg. So keep an eye out for new releaase's on Satamile, Bot,
and SatRX with artist from around the world comprised eight different
countries. We're an international label, tiny but mighty, the little lable
that could. We are ELECTRO and more.!

John Blackford - Mutations & Diseases - Bot
Posted: Thu, 28 Aug 2008 00:00:00 +0000
A new sub-label from New York electro imprint Satamile, John Blackford brings an experimental, introverted voice to Bot. From the title track's eerie ambience to the atmospheric soundtracks of 'Deceleration' and 'Apathy' - the latter samples a black and white movie to the beautiful 'Artificial Intelligence'-style melodies of 'Polymorph' and 'Zipper', Blackford wears his influences blatantly, but the result is so out of time and timeless that it doesn't matter. 4.5
