Bean Sidh	Jun 28 2009 2:53 AM On the subject of why hippies are hilarious and tragic: Hi everyone, Again, I'm sorry I haven't been able to attend meetings for a while; I've been caught up in the wonders and hard work of midwifery school and have been busy beyond belief. Anyway, things are slowing for me right now and I'm thinking about planning an action/protest of sorts against our own fear and the shame we are made to feel about being a woman, and especially about bleeding. I'm looking for a small group of women, perhaps 3-10 to stage a sort of Dionysus-inspired action; we would dance downtown in Pioneer Square painted in our own menstrual blood, which we had either saved just for this purpose, or perhaps more ideally, we had gathered together enough in proceeding months to sync our menstruation up so that we could actually be bleeding during this protest and keep resupplying our paint from our bodies. Ideally we'd also have literature and signs explaining what it was all about; we'd tell people we where fed up with the shame and guilt this culture inspires around menstruation and how we are proud of who we are including our bleeding. This idea was inspired by a talk with another woman around a fire in which we both got so excited by the idea of a protest this far outside of the box, a truly radical, inspired and maybe even a little crazy action, that we wanted to immediately find other ladies to join us and start syncing up our cycles by exercising together regularly, or start saving up blood now! Anyway, I myself am scared to death to actually do this, but at the same time, fear is my big hurtle I want to overcome this year, and by Dionysus, I am too old to let fear (and patriarchy,) stop me from doing what I want anymore! So yes, it is extreme, but also very exciting! Love, Possum
