Satellite promotes the more obscure sounds from around the globe through music promotion, documentary and education.
We promote regular events, programme content for festivals, produce broadcast media and encourage education through workshops.
Amongst other things in 2007 we’ve hosted Eugene Hutz, broadcast for BBC WORLD, produced promo for Senor Coconut(!), Dj’d BESTIVAL and soon we’ll be touring Romania + making arrangements for events next year.

After making Komedia shake to the sounds of some of the best Gypsy and Balkan bands in the world - from Eugene Hutz to Boban Markovic (see above) - Balkan Beats returns to present Romania's funkiest new Gypsy outfit.
Shaped in the Gypsy ghettos (‘Mahala’) around Bucharest, Mahala Raï Banda (lit. ‘Noble Band from the Ghetto’), combine Romanian violin, accordion and clarinet with driving Turkish percussion and Eastern European military brass. As at home playing on the BORAT soundtrack, stirring up a dancing frenzy on the World stage of this year’s Glastonbury Festival, or blistering for 3 days solid at a Balkan wedding, Mahala Rai Bandha rock a party like no other.
