GeneralDetails on the August raffle! The albums were donated by the Tripp/Marimba clan. Art and Kitty sent their own albums around the world to get autographed by various former (and some present!) members of the Mothers and Magic Band incarnations. Amazingly everything came back, tho Trout Mask Replica got a bit banged up by the postal service! We were thrilled with what we ended up with...
Music We raffled off real gen-yoo--wine vinyl albums of We're only in it for the Money, Joe's Garage I, II and III, Trout Mask Replica and Uncle Meat (complete with book, yummy!) a clear vinyl sleeve copy of Clear spot, one You Are What You Is. We had a few CDs too- Drumbo's excellent solo work, Freak Out! and a fab Clear Spot/Spotlight Kid. BONUS- Cal Schenkel stepped in and gave us 2 watercolors, very "Rubenesque!"- and we auctioned them off to boost our fundraising total far beyond what any of our previous fundraisers did. Way cool. Thank you again, band guys! We listed the raffle winners on our blog.
TelevisionThanks again to the bands who helped keep the crowd entertained at Satori! A very enjoyable show it was too. Kudos to JC Town, Deluxe Leisure King, Greg Nobles, Spaghetti Western and El Cantador for a great night.
HeroesEveryone who donated money and goodies for the fundraiser are our heroes! If you bought a ticket,remember- every penny went to the care, feeding and vet bills for homeless dogs and cats on the Gulf Coast. Thank you for supporting the Animal Rescue Foundation! (And to the winners- we're thrilled you all loved your prizes!)

About me:
Howdy, I'm a fundraiser! The Animal Rescue Foundation of Mobile is a non-profit organization dedicated to saving lost and abandoned pets along the Gulf Coast. Members of ARF, Satori and a bunch of guys from the Mothers of Invention and The Magic Band got together and held a really cool fundraiser in August. We'll do it again in a few months. Prizes will be different, but we promise to keep it interesting! Our Zappa/Beefheart album raffle was a great success and we hope to keep it up. Check back for more details on the next one!
Who I'd like to meet:
We'll change this to "who we'd like to thank"-all the guys who generously donated their time and effort (and STUFF!)to this cause. Art Tripp (Ed Marimba), John French (Drumbo), Ed Mann, Cal Schenkel, Jimmy Carl Black (the Indian of the Group), Roy Estrada (Orejon), Denny Walley, Mark Boston (Rockette Morton), Don Preston, Bunk Gardner, and Bill Harkleroad (Zoot Horn Rollo).

All set for the ruff-le tomorrow night. Thanks to everyone who helped- ticket buyers, autographers, band members, volunteers and ticket scalpers! Yes, it should be a dynamite show. Grand totals and raffle winners will be posted on Monday so we can all take Sunday off for hangovers and caffeine headaches! Thank you again to everyone... this was truly cool.
