Danielle's Interests
|
| General | Singing:
I love to sing, and if properly coaxed, can be quite a ham. I love the attention, and am told I have a very pretty voice. Solo songs are fun, but in truth, I find harmonizing in the back ground far more enjoyable.
Pet education:
My pets are my kids. I've had several different species over the years, and every year, I take my menagerie to local middle and High schools to lecture on proper care of a pet, breeding, and avoiding animal abuse. My office also doubles as a very small exotic pet rescue, and many of the animals brought for the lecture are rescues, each with an abuse story told to the audience. I also bring rescues that have been quarantined to offer for adoption, with permission from the school and the children's parents. This class is exciting for most children and teens, and it gives their teachers a well deserved day off.
Side note: Please don't confuse me for an animal rights activist. I am an animal welfare activist. There is a difference.
Exotic pet fostering:
Sadly, I can no longer work with endotherms of any kind. My outbuilding gets very hot in summer, despite a functional air conditioner, so I can only keep ectotherms safely. I plan to keep adult individuals of commonly discarded pet species as permanent lecture animals. I already have my male iguana, chilian rose tatantula, and madagascar hissing roach. I'd like to keep an adult male savannah monitor, and an adult female boa constrictor for this purpose. Columbians are more often discarded than Surinams, but iether sub species would be acceptable. | | Music | You name it. I like most music, and will sing to anything with words. I'm particularly fond of Linkin Park. | | Movies | I like most comedies, scifi bmovies, and several disney movies.
I highly reccoment the three Pirates of the Caribian movies. | | Television | Not much. I have other things to do. When I do watch TV, it's Animal planet, cartoon network, or nickolodeon. I'm a huge Zim fan. | | Books | The Red Wall serese by Brian Jaques, The Warrior series by Erin Hunter, any fictional guide book for mythological creatures, and any non fiction having to do with the care and breeding of exotic pets. | | Heroes | Let's see... My finance, first of all. He'd do anything to take care of me, and he's extraordinarily protective.
My Dad, to a lesser extent. Half the time, I don't get along with him, but he's there in a heart beat if you need him.
My Mom had been diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia. Despite the depressing prognosis, she's determined to be as happy about what she has left as possible. |

About me:
I'm a twenty four year old exotic pet handler from Lincolnton Ga, happily engaged to Luther Micheal Ramsey, whom I have been dating for eight years now. I swim well, but hate other sports. I enjoy long walks, though I'm out of shape and I love to sing. I've been singing since I was very small, and it's among my favorite past times. I enjoy reading interesting stories and books on pet keeping. I often take my animals with me to local schools to lecture on pet husbandry, animal abuse, and breeding. The kids love it and it gives science teachers a much needed day off.
I adore animals of all species, much to the annoyance/embarrassment of my sister, Cassie, and family. I have been handling scorpions since I was seven, spiders and snakes since I was five, and everything else since I could walk. In my life time, I've owned a vast wealth of pets from leeches to dogs. Our cat was a stray, adopted at five months of age.
Most of the house pets are mine. I own a husky/lab named Dianna, a male iguana named Kelly, ten rats (Eclipse, Steele, Spiffy, Crystal, Garnette, Velma, Roxi, Gloria Bijoux, and Inky), and three mice (Spartan, Ivy, and Bianca).
I'm fostering two female iguanas named Madonna and Dyxi, a female red eared slider named Donnatello, an albino clawed frog affectionatly dubbed Frogger, a hissing roach named Mitsey, and a king snake named rocky (freeds on frozen only).

Who I'd like to meet:
Any other rodent/exotic pet lovers, or just friendly, laid back people.
By the way,we currently have no rescues available. Donattello, the Slider, is still in quarentine.
For the love of God in Heaven, DO NOT invite me to be your friend if all you want to do is post ads for online surveys or any other such garbage in my comments! If you post more that three survey adds in my comment box, I WILL delete you! (This warning does not apply to performers, breeders, and rescues. Post what ever you need, as long as it's relevant)
