Saturday At Nine is currently working on their first full length album. After a highly productive 2007 in which the band was formed, played close to 50 shows, released an EP, and performed on Providence, RI's biggest stage – Lupo's Heartbreak Hotel. 2008 is shaping up to be another great year for the 5 piece pop/punk/ska band from Northern Rhode Island.
SAN, as they are called by there fans, recently won the 90.7 WXIN Rock Hunt, beating out dozens of submissions and 16 bands in head to head battle. This high honor was immediately followed by an interview and feature in New England based Limelight Magazine, due out in June. Their energy driven pop/punk Ska induced shows resemble some of the early works of Reel Big Fish, Less Than Jake, MxPx, NoFx, just to name a few.
In January, 2007 Saturday At Nine was formed by Mark (guitar & vocals), Alex (drums) and Josh (trombone), a few friends, new and old getting together to have some fun. In March, Steve (Bass) and Brian (Saxophone) joined the band. Mark and Steve previously played together in Clearly Suburban, and Brian was a veteran of the local music scene having played with RI legends Bad Larry. They had no expectations when the band started, they just wanted to write good music that people could dance too, rock out too and have fun with, as SAN continues to expand their journey throughout the local scene their future is beginning to look much more promising.
Along with writing and recording a full length album you can catch one of Saturday At Nine's highly energetic live shows at various times throughout the spring and summer as they have dates lined up all over New England.
Stay tuned, there is more to come.
