Satureja is a vocal ensemble originally set up to perform at the ISME Conference (the International Society of Music Education) in Tenerife, Spain in 2004. Encouraged by the positive feedback from the conference, sisters Aili and Tuuli Ikonen and their cousin Eva Louhivuori decided to continue working together to put the idea of a vocal ensemble into a new perspective.
Saturejas repertoire is a mix of each band member’s own compositions, their arrangements and also cover tunes. Instead of predefined roles in a group, Aili, Tuuli and Eva create the sound of Satureja by listening to the music their working on and then adding "what it needs" to it.
