Satyananda Das is one of the most prominent baul singer of Bengal, as well as India .
He is presently a resident of village Nabasan in Bankura district of West Bengal in Eastern India.
For quite sometime around, he has captivated august audiences by his rich bass voice and dulcet tunes and has caused ripples in the world of imaginative music.
His initiator guru (dikshya guru) had been Sri Bhagaban Das and his spiritual teacher (sikshya guru, sannyas guru) had been Sri Krishna Das. Right from childhood, he had taken up the path of austere endeavour. He had many gurus of music also.
His primary guru of baul music had been Sri Bhuban mohan Das. He had groomed up by foster mother Radharani Goswami.
He has been absorbed in searching for the universal soul (paramatma) with his partner Hori dasi. Their "Chaitania mantra" guru is Sri Haripada Goswami, who is a centenarian mentor and a perfect preceptor towards the "sadhana". With the help of appropriate guru, has Satyananda & Horidasi been able to carry on their successful strides.
The colourful cultural heritage of these immortal Bengali Baul songs date back hundreds of years into history. The singular objective of such arduous endeavour is to realise one's own self, (through the preaching of a perfect guru), to visualise the human body as a sacred shrine. It is only then that knowledge of the universe infiltrates into the heart.
Satyananda Das had traveled across the length and breadth of India with his music as his endeavor. He had performed before thousands of audiences in England (WOMAD Festival) and other European countries in 1997 and 1999. In Germany (Festival of Sacred Music) he won the hearts of millions on his visit there in 2003. He was visited to Japan in 2004,2007,2008, to South Korea in 2007,2008.
