Influences
there is but one person who has always (and shall always) made (make) sense to me: nico.
otherwise, there are many thinkers, writers, poets, filmmakers, et al (i shall presently overlook visual artists - filmmakers aside - for the sake of brevity): nietzsche, derrida, lyotard, cixous, wittgenstein, deleuze, adorno, hans jonas, levinas, arendt, kristeva, edmond jabes, camus, artaud, benjamin, marcuse, heidegger, husserl, r.d. laing, buber, kierkegaard, emerson, thoreau, whitman, bakunin, kropotkin, marx, wollstonecraft, coleridge, wordsworth, blake, shelley, byron, lewis carroll, goethe, trakl, rilke, celan, grass, novalis, hoelderlin, rimbaud, baudelaire, valery, france, cocteau, breton, verlaine, theresa de avila, st. john of the cross, meister eckhart, pseudo dionsysius, angelus silesius, aquinas, maimonides, averroes, ibn khaldhun, al ghazali, zeno, cynegeticus, plato, socrates, xenophon, heraclitus, pythagorus, paul/saul, job, moses, nichiren, dogen, hui neng, lao tze, chuang tze, nagarjuna, bodhidharma, sidharrtha guatama, patanjali, basho, herzog, tarkovsky, garrel, wenders, beckett, philip k. dick, w.s. burroughs, dostoevsky, tolstoy, joseph conrad, hamsun, e.a. poe, kafka, borges, mahfouz, sarte, de sade, chatwin, unamuno, trocchi, jeanette winterson, huxley, brecht, pushkin, orwell, mann, hesse, jarry, et al. i know i'm forgetting an awful lot here.
and then, of course, there are countless works of indeterminate origins ... another time.

meeting a dog you suddenly see the abyss of love. such limitless love doesn’t fit our economy. we cannot cope with such an open, superhuman relation. -- hélène cixous
i have never felt so lost or alone ...
----------------------------------------------------------------------- eyes like saucers is the solo project of j. knoch, formerly the farfisa organist for secret eye recording artists - urdog. with eyes like saucers, the darker and more organic regions of inner space are explored ala a slightly modified indian pedal harmonium, effected voice, and sundry accoutrements. drawing inspiration from such artist as nico, robert wyatt, carl orff, and early 20th century german poet, georg trakl, the incessant and labored breathing of the ancient harmonium evokes a bleak and troubled age that, ironically, can best be surmised as a post-apocalyptic era that we have as yet to arrive upon
