Bob Bauers (drums/vocals) Joshua Pannepacker (vocals/guitar)
Forever Saudi's:
Fletcher VanVliet (bass), Vinnie Barrucco (vocals/guitar), Pat Lamborn (bass/vocals), Micah Edwards (sax), Michael Ferrin (banjo), Alfonzo Italiano (put the trash in the trashcan, please) and James Thorson (guitar/keyboard).
Saudi Arabia was formed in 2006 in West Philadelphia.
After singer/guitarist Joshua recorded , "Kicking Your Ass, Then Smoking Your Grass," under the name Shorty Boy-boy, he looked for help in performing those songs live. Joshua stole his dad's drummer and best friend, 56-year-old Bob Bauers, enlisted Fletcher VanVliet (Da Comrade) and longtime friend Vince Barrucco (Cops On Dirtbikes). Joshua and Vince decided to start collaborating on a few new idea's, which lead to 2008's "$200,000." Shortly following the Ep’s release, the band received airplay on local rock station WYSP (94.1), and recorded a Local Track Session with 88.5, WXPN's own Y-Rock. After 30+ shows in the Philadelphia area, the band recorded their second EP "PG-13". Fletcher and Vince departed Saudi leaving Joshua and Bob to carry on as a duo. Being told that their raw performance showed an honest and energetic promise, the two decided no matter who played with Saudi, they would carry on.
Hey, Adam Ladyfingers just told me that he took my suggestion to book you guys for his CD release show at the Tritone in a few weeks!
that's so awesome! I'm going to be recording his set (16 track live protools recording from my mackie onyx firewire mixer board), would you be interested in that as well? I'd need to know asap as I have to have my helper monkey Chris and would need to let him know as far ahead of gig time as possible because of his schedule, tho I can still do it if he's not able but I'd prefer to have him if possible (as I've been training him) otherwise I'd need to find someone else or have the band's (or their friends) help me themselves as Adam's set up (for live and recording) is fairly minimal and I can do it on my own but a full band would really be pushing it phyiscally for me (due to my disability).
I can send you some tracks of other recordings I've done with the same set up... let me know and I'll upload them for you to hear..the recording where the band was pretty much all acoustic (they were a bluegrass band) came out so freaking awesome..
also, I'd really love to go over everything with you guys about this gig, to see what you are planning this time around and what gear and instruments you are bringing, so that I'm sure to really get the best sound as possible for you guys, even if you don't opt for the recording. tho it'll be inexpensive and very affordable (like all my sound services as I actually love the work rather than it being some job), hell, there may even be a chance to barter rather than as a straight up fee...
you can contact me via myspace or my email (scottparker@comcast.net) (email's probably better).. so get in touch soon, so we can go over all this for this gig as I'd like to be a bit better prepared going in this time around, lol..
hey there, hope ya had a great cd release. wish i couldve made it, i had to work graveyard that night. what a bummer. anyways hope all is well, laters.
not much... stop working there june 30... doing the writing thing... looks life it's about to "pay" off in May... Thank God! relocating with my sister at the end of the summer... well try to make it to your next show FOR SURE.
LOL!!! It's cool, I got that thing from the commercial with the guy's social on a box truck....for all lookin', my social is 254-98-2295. If you figure out who's social that is, get me there credit card info so I can buy a trip to Aruba...care of Josh!!! Wish I could be at the debut brotha!
wish I could, but I'm working... my work is never done... lol.. sigh... I do really miss being able to go out and just enjoy a show but really the only chance I get is when I'm working it. tho I probably wouldn't know what to do with myself at this point if I did, lol... I'd sit there and feel the need to turn a knob or set up a mike or something... hehe, hazards of the job
