Steve Sauerberg's Blurbs |
About me:
A respected family physician for over 25 years, and a successful small businessman and recognized medical expert, Dr. Steve Sauerberg was born in Berwyn and raised in LaGrange where he graduated from Lyons Township High School. Steve was the son of a pharmacist, who owned three local pharmacies, and a stay at home mother.
After High School, Steve went to MacMurrary College in Jacksonville, IL. While at MacMurray, Steve was accepted into Rush Medical College’s specialty medical program where he finished his fourth year of undergraduate course work and first year of Medical School simultaneously. While in medical school, Steve’s classmates elected him to the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society, comprised of the top 15% of each medical school graduating class.
After medical school, Steve returned home for his residency at LaGrange Memorial Hospital. Steve’s leadership resulted in being appointed Chief Resident his final year. He then served as Assistant and then Associate Director of the residency, teaching Family Medicine for the next four years. Steve started his own successful family practice in 1985 and today it is one of the most successful Family Medicine group practices in Chicago’s western suburbs. In addition to his family practice, Steve is a member of the Illinois State Medical Society and the American Medical Association and has been a generous donor to the LaGrange Hospital Foundation.
Steve is committed to giving back to his community. The Sauerberg Family Foundation has been a financial supporter of Habitat for Humanity, Disabled American Vets, Campus Crusade for Christ, the University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse, Indiana University, and MacMurray College.
A loving husband and father, Steve Sauerberg and his wife Nancy, celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary during the summer of 2007. Together they have two adult children - Neal and Laura. The Sauerbergs are active members of the Christ Church of Oak Brook.

2008 PRIMARY ELECTION VICTORY!
Sauerberg Wins Republican Nomination for U.S. Senate
Steve Sauerberg, M.D. - "People all across our great state believe that Springfield and Washington are broken, and they are right. It is time to hold the career politicians like Dick Durbin accountable for the mess in Washington, it is time to return Illinois values to Washington, in short - it is time for change."
(Lombard, IL) - Tonight, Steve Sauerberg, M.D., won the Republican nomination for United States Senate. In his acceptance speech, Sauerberg spoke about the need for real change in Washington. "People all across our great state believe that Springfield and Washington are broken, and they are right," said Sauerberg. "It is time to hold the career politicians like Dick Durbin accountable for the mess in Washington, it is time to return Illinois values to Washington, in short - it is time for change."
Sauerberg won a decisive victory over two primary opponents. "I want to thank every voter who braved the cold to cast their vote to return Illinois values to Washington," continued Sauerberg. "I will never forget that you are what this election - and what elected service - is all about."
Sauerberg promised to wage a vigorous campaign to defeat ultra-liberal incumbent Senator Dick Durbin. "By any objective measure, Dick Durbin's 37 years on the government payroll have been a disaster for Illinoisans, but a boon for the liberal left-wing special interest groups that Dick Durbin spends his time fighting for," said Sauerberg.
"Between now and November, I will fight for every vote in every corner of this state. Dick Durbin needs to know that his days in Washington are numbered. We are going to change Washington and that change begins tonight," concluded Sauerberg.
