Television
Sigh...we pay big clams for cable and watch six minutes of advertisements every time they break for commercial. (echoing yell) Why?!
Books
George Orwell, Philip K. Dick, Gunter Grass (yes, even after all we've learned; the man can make images come alive on the page), Joyce Carol Oates, Sinclair Lewis, Chuck Palahniuk, Iris Murdoch, E.L. Doctorow, John Updike, Ray Bradbury, Richard Ford; Cormac McCarthy (in spite of--not because of--the hype)
Heroes
My husband (who, when on 24-hour call, is often found face-down in the comforter patiently talking other people through complex computer problems when you know he'd really rather be sleeping); my Mama and Papa; Angelina Jolie (oh, I know, I know.)
About me: I edited my profile with Thomas Myspace Editor V4.4 (www.strikefile.com/myspace)
Once upon a time, Savannah Schroll Guz was a Fulbright Scholar and worked as a correspondence translator for Bavaria's Prince von Hohenzollern.
Now, she is a regular contributor to Library Journal, where she writes a monthly column on newly released reference guides. She is also a steady art critic for Pittsburgh City Paper. Her interview work will soon appear in The Photo Review and Sculpture Magazine. She is an investigative correspondent for Shepard Medical's award-winning Infection Protection Blog. She sporadically teaches English at West Virginia Northern in Wheeling. But every day, she writes herself a little further into a novel about quantum physics, genetics, the paranormal, and the Holocaust.
She is author of the short story collection, The Famous & The Anonymous (Better Non Sequitur, 2004) and editor of the theme-based fiction anthology, Consumed: Women on Excess (So New Media, 2005).
She is German-American by birth, Polish-American by marriage ('Guz,' a good Polish name, rhymes with 'was').
Who I'd like to meet: Jederman, der Deutsch spricht.
