Savant Garde is a favorite in the Northwest with amazing energy – music that raises the vibration! Repertoire is a unique blend of classic rock, folk, gospel, jazz, R&B and a little country … something for everyone.
Scot and Kristin have been performing together since October 2000 but, the band didn’t have a name. In October 2002, we were playing at Mt. Hood Railroad’s Autumn Fine Arts and Music Festival in Parkdale, OR and needed a name so, our friend Nathan came up with a number of ideas…and Savant Garde was born! Rebecca joined the band in June 2003 to complete the ensemble.
We look for songs that send a positive message…because that’s who we are! Our philosophy stems from our belief that our music is a gift we’ve been given. We do a lot of cover tunes but, we’d like to think we add a certain style to them. One of the things that sets us apart is our vocal harmonies. Almost every song we do includes 2 if not 3 part harmony… again because harmony raises the vibration!
So much good music has been written over the years. Everything we play is a cover... we add a little vocal harmony and an acoustic “groove”... you might not even recognize them! We also do some covers that people have never heard of because they didn’t get played to death on the radio! More than anything, the driving force behind our selection and arrangement of songs is how it feels – how it fits…and occasionally we’ll throw something crazy and fun into the mix! (You should hear our acoustic version of “Take me to the River”)
